Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Latman.... lol haha! Too funny!

And I'd have to agree with Hot Shot.... bad eating habits. Americans don't give a rat's ass about their diets. It's such a shame.

America BY AVERAGE is the most overweight nation.

That doesn't mean everyone here is overweight... the athletes, of course, are in good condition.

I've read a few articles about why americans are fat done by UK journalists on the net. The biggest factor is portion size at restraunts and other places. One journalist came here on vacation and said the the portion sizes were "obscene". I totally agree with him. For example, our crasonts(how do you spell that?) are 3 times the size of the ones they make in France. Blueberry muffins are the size of softballs. Look at MacDonalds and their supersizes. How many grams of sugar are in a supersized coke? People gradually over the years get used to bigger portions and eat more and more.

Your high schools over there don't have a track? Weird. Does your highschool have a track team? or other sports teams? Over here highschool sports are pretty big.

Could have to do with the amount of money that the governemt puts into schools over there or the price of tuition and such.

Do students over there usually do better on formal tests compared to students in the US?

At the college level it's all because of MONEY. The schools get an incredible amount of money from television. At the high school level some of it is a trickle-down of the college-level obsession, but more of it is just plain competition. Look at Texas and its obsession with football. In the rural communities there's a lot of pride and civic identification with the teams. Out in West Texas if you're from Midland it's the biggest event of the year if your team beats Odessa-Permian. In the big cities there's a lot of cross-town rivalry. Patton said something to the effect that America loves a winner and won't tolerate a loser.

The overweight deal is a completely different issue, IMO.

I dunno. i have heard say that when you graduated high school in europe you usually would have rocked the usa exams, but of course those things differ and theres different levels of education in every country.
