    Building abs

Hi I am just wondering how to get my abs built more, they are already pretty defined but I would like to know how to emphasize more on the lowers. Is the Swiss ball the best way to go? thanx

Very simply put, progressive overload with emphasis placed on reps that are between 4-12.

As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!"

Like Maki said, the abs are just like other muscles. Exercise them with progressive amounts of weight and they will grow.

Yup - you may find that squats, deads and chins work your abs quite nicely, but then again, you may also find that direct abs training - strengthening the core if you like - will reap rewards involving your other lifts.

If you don't have "lower abs" it's because:

    1. they are not fully developed

    2. you don't have the genetics (shape)

    3. you have something known as fat covering them

In reality there are no lower or upper abs; there are just abs. To prove it try to contract only the "lower"....keep trying...you can't because it's impossible. Therefore if you work the "upper" you work the "lower" as well.
