Anyone care to share some tips or experiences with this particular exercise?

I just wanna see what people experiences with single-arm db shrugs, as opposed to the normal shrugs (with both hands, simultaneously). I feel that a better ROM can be acheived.
You can get better ROM using DBs, but end up using less total weight. It's a trade off. I actually prefer them over regular barbell shrugs, but my gym doesn't have heavy enough dumbbells for me to use so...

You've misunderstood me. Im just talking about Dumbbell shrugs. But single arm DB shrugs, as opposed to 'double' arm DB shrugs.

I don't see the point in doing them single armed. I reckon the obliques and lower back quite would need to provide quite a bit of stabilization work. That's probably the only benefit, working those muscles along with the traps. I'd prefer two arm shrugs over one arm.

I did DB shrugs for a bit, at the same time mind you and then I tried a BB and I find it ALOT better and I can go alot heavier
I sometimes finish a set of shrugs by doing single arm shrugs, when you get to that point where your traps seize up, not too sure how beneficial it is, but it feels like it's giving it an extra rep or 2 so i just throw it in, I can't see the harm tbh
