    Front squats

I've never tried these, but supposedly they work the quads better than regular squats. They look hard as hell to do, especially with heavy weight. But if you look at this month's FLEX magazine, Dennis James is doing over 500 pounds on front squats, unbelievable.

Anybody do these regularly? Shoudl I switch to them?

I'd recommend doing them every third leg workout. They're a good way of switching things up, but not a necesity. I look at them the same way I look at decline benching.

As always, it all depends on your goals.

If you are trying to get big and strong, I'd stick with back squats, perhaps doing front squats as an auxilliary lift - but if you like them, do them.

(Photos in FLEX are notorious for being fake. They use light wood plates painted to look like 45's.)
    Squats work better than supplements.
"You know, if I thought like that, I'd never put more than one plate on the bar for anything, I'd never use bands or chains, I'd never squat to parallel or below, and I'd never let out the slightest grunt when I lift. At some point in your lifting career (assuming you're planning on getting reasonably strong and big), you're going to have to accept that most people think you are some kind of freak." -Sensei

Front squats are hard. They take some getting used to and kill your shoulders.

Front squats are great for your quads. They are kinda hard to get used to though. Somebody recommended using the same grip as if you were doing cleans... and I've found that helps alot more than just laying it across your shoulders and hooking your thumbs over the bar. I don't do them regularly, but when I'm feeling kinda stiff and cold I'll do them with low weight while warming up before regular squats.

True true... but did you get the link to that Ronnie Coleman video? 700lbs front squat. Only shows him doing one rep... but damn.

Um, Plers use gear too, bro.
