    Anybody here a model??

Today I was walking on campus and this girl who walked by me was like "You are so cute!" At first I though I had a date for the weekend, but she handed me a card and said I should go to a modeling thing for Options Modeling. I was dissapointed because she was a hottie.

I am fully aware of how shady modeling agencies are but I think it'd be fun to go check it out and see how things operate.

I was just curious if anybody has heard of Options and what the whole deal is with modeling. I'm most likely not going to do it, but I have nothing better to do tomorrow so I might as well go. Any info would help!

I was mainly curious about the reputation of Options... I guess they're nation wide. I have a sneaking suspicion that I'll get there and they'll try to charge me God knows how much to put together a portfolio. I don't even know enough about it to make worthwhile questions other than what Options is like.

I would give it a shot, check it out, they can't make you buy anything you don't want

Dont get involved with options. They are along the lines of places like John Robert Powers which is basically a scam job. They make you pay for your own headshots, fees, etc, and there is no guarantee of work.

A real agency doesnt make you pay for ****. You are an asset, not just a source of cash.

If you want to model, research any modeling agencies around your area and give them a call, they'll interview you and see waht you're made of. If they think they can make a couple bucks with your pretty lips, you'll be in their books and they'll call you for auditions, shoots, etc. You shouldnt have to pay for them to take headshots of you, mostly because you should already have some.

I've known many people who got screwed by options and other like businesses.

i've heard of Options, but from the opposite end..they are always looking for "talent scouts" who'll go out and find them people.

i thought it sounded shady comign from that angle......

but you know what i think they got a website that can help you out a bit...i remember checking it out from a link on monster.....can't remember it tho.

Yeah, they have a web site but it didn't show me much. This was for some national modeling search that options is a sponsor for.

It is today at 11:45 but I'm not going to go. I wasn't really planning on it from the start unless somebody gave the company a wonderful review... I've heard bad things about modeling agencies and the work involved so I'm not exactly interested. Hehe, I just thought it would be fun to see how things work.

    Options aka TransContinental Talent

Unforntunatley, Options aka TransContinental Talent, is a scam. They recruit wannabe scouts to scour areas for a models/talents and invite them to an "open call". After the presentation, they will interview you one on one and give you the "hard sales" pitch. Upfront fee is $595.00 then an additional $19.95 per month to have your pictures appear on their website; there is no guarantee of work. Also, the $595.00 does include your pictures. Bottom line, they are no different from "Faces", "Barbazon" and "John Robert Powers". The reality is that most of these modeling companies are out to steal your money. :eek

GIS, They are definitely a scam - Options approached my daughter and I did a quick web search and there is a ton of material on them. Lawsuits, better business bureau complaints--they NEVER get anyone work. They charge 600 clams to post your pictures on the 'net and $20 a month, I think, and they say agencies call you. The gal who gave you the card get's a commission if you buy in. (There goes your date )

Budiak knows what he's talking about. An agency will only get excited about you if they think they can get you work. You don't give them a dime until they get you a job, when they get their cut. Do a search on Options and you'll find more crap on them than you can shake a stick at.

you go and they then insue to tell you to pay money to be featured on their website, blah blah blah.

If you want to model, walk into a reputable agency.

If you tell me where you're from I can list you the good ones in your area.

Nope, never went. Right from the start I thought it was pretty shady that they would walk around handing out business cards without giving any background about what they do, plus it was one of those "just show up" kind of operations.

Everybody's responses helped in the decision so thanks.

Okay say you know a bunch of agencies in your city. Do you need professional pictures to give to the agencies or can you have normal pictures taken from any camera.

I have a friend that works at Options in their managment...its a HUGE scam...
Granted they do get some people work...and have had a few large contracts...but the % of people that pay them vs the % that actually get work is abysmal

I was approached two different times by scouts (not Options) but my friends experience at Options jaded me so much that I didn't even take their cards or ask them who they worked with or anythign like that. Kinda regret that now though, might have been fun (and/or some side money doing gay porn).

I received an invitation for modeling a few years back. There was a 1.5 hour orientation where they covered all kinds of info about the modeling business. The only fee that was required was in the neighborhood of $300. All it did was give you a pass to attend a conference where you had the opportunity to show your portfolio to dozens of agencies in Chicago. I would say they were on the level. They made no gaurantees that an agency would pick you up. But you would get some exposure. Kind of a hit or miss.
Best way to cheat on deadlifts...

Stand there for a few minutes, then pace back and forth a lot, huff and puff, wait until everybody's looking. Approach the bar. Back off. Approach it again. Back off. Get some water. Chalk up. Approach the bar again. Then spray some more chalk around. Wait until people start losing interest. When nobody's looking, pick it a little off the floor, and slam it down. Jump up and yell "LIGHT WEIGHT BABY". Then give high fives all around. - Belial
