    Comments:
Everything was going great and I was surprised I hit 496x3 in the suit because it was super loose because the last time I wore it I was almost 20lbs heavier than I am now. Only thing is, I tweaked my right trap a little bit on that last rep. It hurt even for my front squats and even more so today. I still did great on the front squats, though, managing an easy 300 and then going for 310 for the hell of it. Next time I'll do 315 again because I'm pretty sure I can get it when fresh.

    Comments:
So I've been a slack-jawed slacker and haven't been posting my shit in here lately but I took last week as a de-load anyway (unplanned) thanks to some trap tweakage on the previous Friday. I decide best not to push it. Anyway, feeling refreshed after the weekend I decided to go for that elusive 20 bodyweight pullups again and this time got it. Squats felt solid despite not having back squatted in 2 weeks and cleans felt great, too. I was only one stinking second off my all-time PR on the farmer's holds for time with the 125's, which is the heaviest DB's they have at my gym. Good day all around.

I went fairly light on everything because I didn't want to aggravate anything after the trap tweakage. Deads overall felt pretty good, though. After this session I lounged outside by the pool. It was a perfect day for it - about 75 degrees and the sun shining. Not a cloud in the sky.

Was thinking the same thing as of late, weather has been indeed very comfy.

Good deal on the farmer's holds, makes me wonder how long I would last on that movement, lol.

You should give it a try, Coke! They are a fun to do at the end of a session as a kind of finisher.

    Comments:
Well, the day right after having deadlifted probably wasn't he best to go really heavy on front squats, but they mostly felt good, even if I didn't have enough left in the tank for a 315 single. Pullups still felt solid and I did some really super deep pause squats just to really hammer the glutes. I'm feeling them for sure even now. I tried this Hammer Strength row things that I hadn't tried before. It wasn't too bad. I'll have to keep doing them on weeks when I don't feel like doing Pendlay rows.

Felt surprisingly good on squats yesterday for not being in the gym in a week. Too much packing and moving. I could have probably doubled 390 or 395 yesterday, and that at a bodyweight of a whole 189lbs. Yeah, I'm light. So I was spotting this guy who is newer but I've seen there a few times. He is freaking jacked in the upper body. He had me spot him for a set of 5 with 315 on bench and he got it no problem. This was after doing a few sets of 5 with 295 beforehand. We were chatting briefly between sets and he apparently thought I was a grad student, so about the same age as him (he's 23). He was shocked when I told him I'm 33. Funny stuff.

Man, I haven't been posting my sessions in here enough. No matter. I did my usual bench session along with some snatches last Wednesday and then promptly got sick with a sinus infection and pink eye for the next 5 days. I'm just now getting over it, but it sucked. This will be my last time posting in here for at least a good week or more as I'm getting ready to move out to Arizona. I'm leaving on Thursday and will be driving it over 4 days, making a couple stops to visit with friends along my journey. One I get settled I'll be hitting the gym as soon as possible and so will certainly be posting here again.

That said, I've posted my last session at the gym I've faithfully been lifting at for the past 13 years. I'll miss it. It's doubtful I'll ever find as massive and awesome a facility as the one I've had the privilege of training in ever again.

Oh how I shall miss thee oh great ARC gym. So many times have I felt the rubber padding of a Forza bench on my back, cold steel in my hands, and the weight of 400+ lbs on my back in the power rack. So many laps in your pools. So much time spent in your locker room. How many times have I weighed myself on your scale? Hundreds probably. Maybe even thousands. Now there will be new gyms to conquer and to lay waste to many more grueling tests of fortitude and stamina. But perhaps I shall return someday...for one last go 'round, and we'll dance that clanking, grunting, sweaty dance once again.

So it's been a long while since I've been on here. Over 3 months to be exact. A lot has changed in that time, although my neverending pursuit of excellence continues. Admittedly, upon moving out AZ the training has taken somewhat of a backseat to other aspects of my life. I am well into my Masters program now and that takes up a lot of my time. I still make it into the gym at least a couple days a week, although I haven't competed in a powerlifting meet in almost a year. I did a Highlander competition at the end of August (put on by member JSully for those that know him), so put several weeks of training into preparing specifically for that. I plan to do a meet over in Mesa that is being put on by my gym (Thorbecke's Gym, an old school powerlifting gym and all-around great place. Brandon Cox lifts there!) the first weekend of November.

My weight is down a lot over the past year. Much of that is due to going through my divorce which curbed my appetite for a long time. The rest of the reason is I think adapting to the heat here and the fact that I've been so physically active in other ways outside of the gym (mountain biking, hiking, etc.) that putting weight back on has been difficult. I'm down to about 184lbs, so plan to compete in the 181 class for this PL meet. The first meet I ever did was at 187lbs bodyweight so this will be the lightest I've ever competed at! Yes, my lifts are down of course. Still, my squat is around 400 raw, bench down the most at about 270 raw now, and deadlift still hovering around 500 raw. I looked at the NASA state records and I should be able to break all of them in the Open category for my weight class.

Maybe I'll actually start posting my journal again in here, but at least I'll be checking in periodically. Oh yeah, I absolutely love it out here so far. So many beautiful people (the women!) and love the weather, palm trees, and natural beauty that surrounds you. Don't know if I'll ever be going back to Illinois.

Wow. I guess it's been almost a year since I've posted in here.
    Since then I've:
Competed in 2 Highlander competitions (put on by none other than JSully!)
Competed in 2 powerlifting meets (one as a 181 and one as a 198, broke multiple state records in both)
    Met my now fiancee
    Finished my Masters program
    Bought a house
    Started a new job
Continued lifting that whole time (and even got my girl into it)

Right now I'm sitting at about 195lbs, squat hovering around 405 in just a belt, raw benching only about 260 (damn shoulder has forever f'ed that up), deadlifting around 500 belt only still. This despite only lifting for about 90 minutes 2-3 days a week. My program is very simplified from what it used to be. Focus is almost exclusively on the basic movements, with very little assistance work thrown in there. Somehow this has not prevented me from maintaining my strength, and even making some slight gains. I do know that the lower volume has helped keep me rather pain and injury free (*knock on wood*) and I don't feel the daily soreness and creakiness that I used to all the time. I think as I get older (just turned 35!) that this is the better way to go. Luckily I have the experience now to listen to my body and understand when I can push and when I should back off. I'd like to compete again sometime soon, perhaps, although I've got a lot on my plate. I'm actively trying to move up to Colorado now. My fiancee grew up there and wants to go back and I have a few good friend up there and have been there several times and have always loved it. We'll see what happens.

Anyway, I hope it's not quite this long that I go without posting in here again. Stay strong my people.
