300lb dog, man this is huge!!

140kg dog, about 33inches tall at the shoulders. English mastiff, thats just insane, I never thought a dog could ever get that huge, it should be considered a mini bear or something. http://www.mastiff.com.au/about_the_mastiff.htm

We've got one... he's normal sized for a mastiff, about 210. Wonderful dogs... love that animal. Wish I could have one here, but... apartment.

Still... sweet, smart, loyal, protective when need be... what more could you want.

how would you rate your mastiff as a family/household protector, I know thats now why you bought it, its a pet, but what do you think? Ive read that some mastiffs tend to be a little shy, still 210lbs is a big dog.

I don't really want a dog around that can overpower me. 200+ lbs of dog isn't easy to fight off, no matter WHAT size you may be.

But a smaller dog would be fine?
Best way to cheat on deadlifts...

Stand there for a few minutes, then pace back and forth a lot, huff and puff, wait until everybody's looking. Approach the bar. Back off. Approach it again. Back off. Get some water. Chalk up. Approach the bar again. Then spray some more chalk around. Wait until people start losing interest. When nobody's looking, pick it a little off the floor, and slam it down. Jump up and yell "LIGHT WEIGHT BABY". Then give high fives all around. - Belial

My wife loves those, but I'd have to get another job just to feed the dog

So you don't wanna get big, do you?

Well, you just put that dog in your backyard, and I doubt any intruders would want to break in, being the dog weighs 200-300lbs.

i was thinking the same thing, i would need to feed the dog as much as i feed myself.

i couldnt imagine a dog like that getting excited and jumping up on the bed while youre sleeping.

or even worse, it gets excited and rapes your leg. i say rape because there would be no stopping it.

They're tremendous for that. They're fine around guests, most of the time, but when no owner's around... they really, really don't like strangers. And it doesn't even take much aggression from a dog that big to be terrifying.

But our dog's more likely to sit on your chest and lick your eyelids shut than he is to attack, or even be too rough during playtime.

They do drool quite a bit... but shedding isn't a problem at all. If the house is cool, though, and you remember to wipe their mouths after they drink, they're remarkably clean.
