    Incline Bench substitute for flat?

Lately when iv been looking at a lot of peoples routines, i see that some people dont even do flat bench at all, just incline bb and dumbells. since im sorta at a bench plateau I was wondering if anyone thinks this is a sufficient excersize to replace flat bench for a month or so and get good results... thanks

It's not the same, but it certainly couldn't hurt to switch for a few weeks. You'll probably see some results when you switch back to flat. Give it a try.

Definately switch it up...between using DB or BB and switching between incline, flat and decline, there are lots of options!

also, are you supposed to arch your back at all on incline? i saw chris cormeir doing it and some other guy.. and if doing so wouldnt this hit the chest just as well as flat bench with or without an arch? thanks

I don't think your supposed to arch your back on an incline press. also don't drive with your legs, this is not a powerlifting meet. plant your feet but dont use them to push.

Also I love inclines over flat anyday. And DBs over BB anyday. Heres a thought switch over to DBs for a few weeks. do something like this for chest:

    Incline Dbs 12,10,8,6
    Flat Dbs 12,12,10,10
Some type of a fly or X over for 4 sets. reps high 12-15

thats what I'm doin and im seeing good results accually its my chest day today so I gotta find a gym that is open on easter lol. wish me luck

ha good luck. how long have you just been doing dumbells? do you think if you went back to BB you would still have the same bb max or substantially higher?
