    Deadlift question

I want to ask you guys a question about the deadlift. Watch these two videos:

    exrx: http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/...BDeadlift.html

    BSU strength labs: http://www.bsu.edu/webapps/strengthl...s/convdead.mpg

If you compare the 2 videos, you'll see that the guy in the exrx video does more of a "squat" with the weight on the descending motion, and drops his ass down more than the guy in the BSU video. The guy in the BSU video bends foward more at the waist instead of dropping his ass while lowering the weight. Both of them seem to be keeping their back straight throughout the exercise. My question is, is one of these videos showing "correct" DL form and the other "incorrect", or is the difference I described between the way they lower the weight just a difference in the way they do the movement, and neither one is wrong?

I cant see the second vid(im at work and cant watch vids) but judging by your description they are both being done correctly. Different, but there both right.
It is a personal preference as to how you put the weight down in a deadlift. You'll find that you put the weight down differently as you are closer to your 1RM too.

wow thats totally different than the way i do mine.. if i keep my legs straight with a slight bend is that bad form or just a different version of deads.. cause the way it looks in that video makes it look a lot easier..

Well, i dont know anyone that has ever maxed sldl's. It varies way to much on form/flexability anyway.
Like when i do sldl's i keep a full arch in my back, some people don't though.

they guy in the latter video has the actual best form,

in the first video the guy is squatting the weight up and with his hips so far behind him its very disadvantagous to leverage. if you use a form like that when the weights get heavier your hips will tend to fly out from under you causing the back to round and causing you to possibly injur yourself.

try squatting the weight up with alot of weight you will notice your hips will move up a bit before the weight actually begins to move and this is the place your hips need to be to perform the proper deadlift.

the style the guy was using in the first video it would be great if you have a diamond bar to really work the legs, but if your doing to do it with a straight bar the form in the latter video is the proper way
