The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

ahhh, 1st meet of the new year

just finished my first meet of this year, and did pretty good job. it was on a friday, after 8 hours of school, and it went from like 6-midnight, so i think it was really impressive how well i did compared to my old pr's. i was 225 the day before the meet, so i didnt eat dinner the day before, or breakfast the day of, and i weighed in the morning of at 219.7, so i was very relieved.
i was also pretty sore. i didnt think i was gonna set a pr in anything, much less up my total by 50+ lbs.

squat was good, opened 385, did my usual atf squat to open it up, all the other lifters gave me the "wtf why are you going atf in a meet" look that i get. 2nd squat was 425, still about 4 inches lower than i needed to go, and i smoked it. at this point i had 10lbs over my pr, and the highest 3rd attempt for my weight class was 350, so i was already 75lbs above my competition. so i went a little wild on my 3rd. i asked for 470, and again went about 2 inches below parallel and smoked it. i think i might have got 500 if i stopped at parallel. so all in all i set a 55lb meet pr.

bench was also great. the benches were narrow, but oh well. i opened 235 and smoked it. 2nd lift 265 smoked it. 3rd at 285, went down and had good pause, on the way up the left arm was about 2 inches higher, so i caught myself and stopped the left arm and caught up with the right, and finished even. so my bench pr went up 32lbs.

deadlift made me hate myself. i opened 450 and i swear it was the easiest 450 ive ever pulled. my 2nd attempt was 500, and it was about 11:15 at night. i was tired as hell but i smoked it. i needed 545 for a 1300lb total, but i went for 550 for the even number. i couldnt get it up. i got it about 3/4 up my thighs but couldnt get my back back. i struggled for about 20 seconds because it wasnt a grip issue, but i finally gave up and threw it down. im still pissed i didnt get it, because i just got 535 in december. so i had to settle for a 1255 total.

i won my weight class of 15 people by 260lbs (it was a high school meet) and now i just have to wait for mid march to see if i can get a 1400 total as the state championships.

btw, all lifts were raw w/ only a belt.

Congrats on the squatting, I couldn't comprehend struggling with a deadlift for 20 seconds. Perhaps it just felt like 20 secs?

thanks everyone. i appreciate it. i really cant wait for the state meet, since i am getting a shirt and im also getting my squat suit tailored a bit (the straps are a little too long so its too loose and thats why ive never used it)

btw, my dad made a video of the 550 attempt on the digicam and i looked at my watch while watching it. from as soon as it was off the ground to time it hit the ground was about 13 seconds. not quite 20, but still long!

    I'll make one equpiment suggestion.
    Titan Dual Quad!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its a Centerion but custom made to fit YOU.
    Only cost like 20$ more.
I've been using my dual quad since 2003 and its still giving me a good, predictable pop.
Its comfy too when the straps are up.
Once you squat down, whhhooolle different story lol
