i weigh about 89kg/195.8lb and last week squatted exactly that for my final set of eight reps. my legs were like jelly and i was walking funny. Today i squatted 92kg/202.4lb for my final set, only managed 4 coz i didnt want to risk any more without a spotter. BUT: Although slightly sore, i had no trouble walking etc, which kinda made me feel like i didnt squat properly. Is this common? I cant wait til next tuesday so i can try again. Cheers in advance. Sometime's I can hardly walk after squat's. Other time's I feel fine, fatigued but otherwise fine. But i'm guessing that there will be heap's of guy's out there who can't walk after every squat session. How far down do you go? IMO you don't really need a spotter for squat's. If you can't get the weight back up again, just ditch it.

If I've hit an unfamiliar level of intensity or one that I haven't hit in while, I have a helluva time going up and down stairs for 5 days. If I do something within very close to what I did last time, it doesn't hurt later. I think you either did more reps or a weight you haven't done in a while or set a personal record.

when I began squatting ( at age 14) I would always have cramps, muscle spasms, etc for days after a workout was completed. I can remember walking up to the blackboard in class and my legs buckling our from beneath me. The school nurse, on more than one occasion, called my parents and insisted that I had polio since my legs were always buckling. As I grew stronger, the intense cramps, etc. lessened to a large extent. I do remember one squat session when I was about 20 years old. I had squatted hard-and had ended up doing 600 for 3 reps as my top set. I then stripped the plates to 495 and did 11 reps, no rest, took the bar to 405 and did 7 reps, then 315 for 8 reps, then 225 for 9 reps and 135 for 7 reps at which point I collapsed under the power rack and stayed there for about 25 minutes. I was unable to drive home as I drove a stick shift. Had to call a cab. I was in agony all night long-could not find a comfortable position of any type, so I stayed up all night and watched movies. It eased up somewhat later that day.
its the price you pay
A did a heavy sqaut session about 4-5 years ago that left me crippled for over a week. Going up stairs, getting out of bed ect was agony. Because of the impact it had on my daily living, I swore I wouldn't work myself that hard again.

I go down to about parallel. But as I train at home, next week im taking the big mirror off the wall in the hallway to be sure Im squating as far as I think I am. I recon I might be about an inch off parallel. Would that make a big difference? And how much of a difference would it make, baring in mind I train for my own benefit, dont compete at all and dont need to turn heads as I am already married - 8 yrs as of yesterday....but its nice when a chick still looks at ya....Originally Posted by fen2zla
