The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

The University has 4 gyms around campus with weightlifting/cardio equipment. I can also use the one at my work that the firefighters/policemen use if I want to. If I can't to any of them for whatever reason, I have dumbell's and barbell/bench setup at home.

a crappy semi-hardcore gym...the free weight room is probably 30 by 30 and houses an incline bench, flat bench, and a squat rack..it is a great gym..there are mirrors almost all around the room, but the place itself is falling apart....there is absolutely no one that works out around the time I come in..it is great...too bad the gym will probably go out of business because it is so slow

A community Centre filled with old 60 year olds trying to whip themselves back into shape. I'm sure that'll all change within the next year or so. Can't wait to get out of that place. Yeesh.

Gold's gym although the name has changed with new ownership. Very big and very well equipped. Dumbells go up to 160 pounds I think. At $35 a month I think it is more than worth it.

    Powerhouse.

Given Powerhouse, Golds, etc are all franchised, those gyms can vary quite a bit. I've been in 3 Golds all owned by the same guys that were all remarkably different, and only one of them would have suited my needs.
    Squats work better than supplements.

I just joined a Powerhouse gym last week. I love it because it's a lifter's gym. There is very little cardio bs, no sauna, no pool. Just weights. There is only two squat racks though, so that sucks a little. But I'm pleased with it. It's not bad for only $18.33/month.

    Great equipment, great people.

Plus a basketball court, and like 4 raquet ball courts.
