The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

My right shoulder sometimes makes a soft cracking noise...

...when I am about midway through an Arnold Press repitition. It doesn't bother me at all, nor is it even loud enough for anyone near me to hear. I was just wondering if it might get worse, and should I worry at all?

    1. put your arm in a vice.

    2. do a backflip.

    3. repeat until your arm rides freely in the socket.

I've heard that Arnold Presses aren't that great for your shoulders, I don't do them at all

I had a similar sounding noise from my left shoulder when doing upright bb rows. I moved my grip slightly wider and it doesnt happen. I guess it's common.

Anyone know if repeating the movement (and cracking) makes it better or worse?

I would avoid doing the exercise if the noise gets worse, or is painful, or if it's a sharp crack noise. Otherwise, see if it goes away soon, you might actually solve the problem with exercise.

If it doesn't hurt, keep doing it.

If it hurts, stop doing it.

My elbows would crack like hell when I did UR rows. I noticed the more I pulled the bar away from my body the louder and more irritating it was. I don't do those much anymore also.

Thanks for the replies. But I don't see how "Arnold Presses aren't that great for your shoulders"

And it doesn't even happen all the time. It only happened in my first set for some reason. But, anyway, I think I just moved my shoulders a little bit differently and they stopped cracking.
