The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Workout While Playing Video Games!

What the hell is this thing? http://www.kilowattshop.com

I saw it on an infomercial, so then I went to the website. Obviously, it looks like the typical crap you see on infomercials, but honestly, I don't understand how this is even suppose to work.

It's sad when you have to try and talk people into exercising by being able to play a video game at the same time.

Thats pretty cool, but I would end up associating video game leisure with sweat & discomfort

Don't know about that thing but has anyone here ever played Dance Dance Revolution? I used it to play it about a year ago all the time at the arcade before I bought some metal pads and the game for PS2. I don't play it anymore, but when you get good at it you get a pretty good sweat from playing the harder faster songs.

I have become a fan of DDR and I do it on a regular basis. Not so much for the benefits of just burning some extra cals, but it's fun. In 30 minutes, one can easily get a good sweat going, especially playing on the harder levels.

Yes I'm serious. It was the mainstay of my latest UD2.0 cycle

Like Max-Mex says it's fun and can be very intense on some of the harder levels.

I used to a hardcore DDRer. I would go up to the arcade about every saturday from the time it opened till closed and play there all day. I would take occasionally breaks and go get something to eat and go walking around the mall, but I spent most of the time on the game. I was playing heavy at the time. The Max 300 songs were crazy on heavy and after 1 of those you would nearly pass out, but I would pull through and rest for a little and then get back to it. My favorite song was/is Matsuri Japan on heavy. Wow!! I suddenly have an urge to play it some now. I'll probably start back playing it in about 2 weeks when I get my license and a car.

You could kinda look at it as a form of HIIT actually. If you were to pick a fast heavy song and play it for 2-3 minutes then change to light or standard and then play a song and then back to heavy. Or play 5 heavy songs then take a break and then play some more fast songs. Just a though. Would raise then lower the heartrate.

Why don't you just take your standard cardio machine, put your system + tv in front of it, and hold the controller in your hand?

Only difference is they require you to do the specific method of cardio they picked and the controller is attached to the machine. Doesn't even look like there's a cardio readout on it.

I'd rather put my tv and ps2 in front of the stairmaster... now that's a good cardio session!

Give me some Metal Gear Solid or something I can just zone out in and the cardio will be over in no-time!

I am a big guy, but not in a good way. You would die laughing watching me play. A 230 pound fat guy jumping and dancing around is a pretty funny sight, but I am pretty darn good.
