The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Cardio on empty stomach while bulking

    Hey guys,

I've been bulking for about a week and a half now, I'm up 5-6 lbs. already which is great. I guess I was sort of a skinny-fat guy when I started this. No real fat on my upper body or arms or legs but a little around the waistline, especially the love handles.

I want to keep bulking, I'm only 146 lbs. and at 5'10" that is pretty damn scrawny, but I'd also like to keep the fat gain to a minimum because I think I may have a natural tendancy to pack on some fat in that love handle area.

Would it be beneficial at all for me to do 20 minutes of cardio every morning on an empty stomach in an attempt to burn some of that off and yet continue with my bulking diet...or should I just keep on bulking and try to shed it all later?

    Thanks!

Water too probably. I'm not surprised I jumped up to this weight in a week ... this is what I was about a month and a half ago before some personal problems caused me to drop about 10 pounds.

But I think I already established in my post my concerns about it being fat, didn't I?

I wouldn't do that much cardio.

I'd do your cardio 3 times a week. Maybe once or twice in the mornings and one in the evening. The evening cardio will have a positive effect on your metabolism.

Try to aim for a 1-2lbs per week gain. That way you will put on less fat.

I would not recommend cardio at this time. Wait until you have built an appreciable amount of muscle. With more muscle will come an increased metabolism and less bodyfat. The key to not adding too much fat while bulking is to eat a relatively clean diet. Bulk up on eggs, fish, lean meat, chicken, turkey, buffalo, skim milk, oatmeal, brown rice, sweet poatoes, fruits and veggies. Some people consider bulking an excuse to consume any kind of crap to put on weight. If you want quality muscle, you must eat quality food! Best of luck!

cardio and an empty stomach should be non-existent while truly bulking

Your only reason for doing cardio while bulking is for cardiovascular health.I would suggest no more than 3 X 20 minutes per week.
Stop contemplating! Just get on with it!
