    Cheaper ways to get lots of protein?

    Hey guys I am just getting into lifting and I know the importance of lots of protein. However protein shakes get pretty expensive when you drink them twice a day. Is there a cheaper, easy way to get lots of protein? I heard a can of tuna fish has like 42 grams of protein, is this true? If it is I'll probably just stock up on that and have only 1 shake per day

    So does 3/4 cup of drained low-fat cottage cheese. Plus, it's mostly casein, so it's slow protein. Good for bedtime.

    There are very few sources of protein as cheap as whey if you buy it correctly. I also take in tons of tuna when I can get it 33cents a can.

    Cheap, good tasting protein.

    Also, 2oz tuna = 13g protein. I can tuna = 2.5 servings. That's 33g protein.

    I myself by the big can of tuna from Costco that has the equivalent of 12 cans in it and costs about $4.50.

    Also cottage cheese has a good amount of protein for pretty cheap. Eggs are very cheap as well. At costco I get 5 dozen eggs for about $3.89. At the regular store a dozen is a little over a buck, when not on sale.

    I bought 2lbs of ox liver for 77p (US$1.48) the other day, per 100g it's 20g protein and 4g fat (1g saturated).

    I've done the same thing. I think they are good together. I would sometimes put the mix into a baked potato too.

    I'm with Vido here....check the goddamn back of the can. Does anybody else feel like there are to many kids on this site asking questions they could easily find out for themselves? Save me the time of even opening a post like this by not posting it. I'm done.

    One person says a can of tuna is 42grams of protein, another person says a can of tuna is 24g protien.... WTF!!!

    I'll go grab my can....I know its the can everyone's talking about, because it's the only can available for 40cents.

    Serving Size: 2oz
    Servings Per Container: 2.5
    Fat: .5g
    Carbs: 0g
    Protein: 13g

    Now.....lets do some math....

    assuming what is listed is exactly what is in the can:

    2.5x.5 = 1.25g = fat
    2.5x0 = 0g = carb
    2.5x13 = 32.5 = protein

    Now all the confusion is over on tuna.
