Hey, I can't touch my chest with the bar when benching, and if I do, I know I will have my shoulders torn, so I'm forced to stop around 4 inches above my chest. Does this really affect how my muscles will grow?
maybe you should try less weight, or if there's still discomfort with less weight then just go as low as you can.
Try less weight, like Collegekid said. And if you're still have trouble using a full ROM I would switch to DB's or Hammer Strength, or even incline or decline BB presses. Can you use a full ROM on the rest of your pressing exercises?

YOU don't have to bring the bar to your chest. Just close. If benching is a problem otherwise switch to dumbells presses, pushups and machines.
