Is the sugar that fruit has bad for you like other products high in sugar or is it good since fruit is natural(im talking about fresh fruit not canned)?
Sugar in fruit = Fructose. That is better quality sugar then refined sugar you find in coke, candy, etc.

so is it ok to have like 1to2peices of fruit threw out the day if ur not getting as much exercise b/c i like my fruit but i had to stop lifting b/c of an injury
Fruit is good for you. Go right ahead.
I might suggest tucking it into a meal with protein.
something like cottage cheese would work right?
fruit is good for you, and the sugar is not as bad as refined sugar. Fructose has the lowest GI of all the sugars, so really there isn't any fruit that is going to cause an insunlin spike (except for dates, which have a GI of like 100). The highest GI of the "regular" fruits are bananas and raisins, which are like 55-60, which is only a little bit higher than old fashioned oatmeal.
Fruit also has vitamins, fiber, and replenishes liver glycogen (which I heard somewhere is important, but honestly I don't know why.)
Anyway, I wouldn't eat tons of the stuff, but I'd say like 2-3 pieces a day is fine.
I think what nito meant was that since it's fructose, it doesn't cause a rise in insulin after consumption. I dont know about 'better quality' though...
Cottage cheese would be perfect.
Fructose is taken up preferentially by liver glycogen.
Pop is sweetened with high fructose corn syrup, and there’s a LOT of it.
Because fructose is taken up preferentially by liver glycogen, large quantities of fructose are undesirable. Your body doesn’t recognize the difference between fructose in coca cola and fructose in fruit, but there isn’t THAT much in a few pieces of fruit, and the fruit has redeeming healthful properties, where the pop does not.
Mmm..I've got to get me some apples.
I eat my fruit with a meal. Fruit alone gives me the 'growlies'.

I will add that whole fruits containing at least some fiber or a nice mineral profile are your best bet. I stick with apples, berries, and the occasional orange.
refined sugars are not good for us
they contain many other chemicals including bleach
anything processed is inferior to something 100% natural
Not always true.Originally Posted by Holto

that dosen't mean that the toxic chemicals they contain are any better for usOriginally Posted by Built
Which toxic chemicals would those be?Originally Posted by Holto

and I did specifically mention bleach
would you drink a glass of chlorine bleach ?
have you ever read an article about refined sugar or done any research ?

Ok in all seriousness, how much refined sugar do you think one would have to eat in ONE sitting.....to equal drinking a glass of bleach? If that right there doesnt put things into perspective then let me ask you a question. DO you carry a personal breathign apparatus whereever you go? Just walking downt he street and breathign the exhaust fumes from burning fossil fuels is more dangerous than the amount of bleach youd ingest from a Big Mac Meal from Mcdonalds! heh.
Shansen, this is what I was thinking.
Besides, just because a chemical is used in a process doesn't mean it remains.
Bleach? What kind - chlorine? Same stuff that's in salt?
Besides, Holto already said he consumes dextrose, didn't he?
Anyways, the health benefits of eating fruit greatly outweight the negative impact to your diet. I eat 2-3 cups of fresh fruit salad almost every day, bulking or cutting.
Volume-wise, it's actually quite impressive too. 2 cups of fruit salad should help fill you up pretty good, and contains only around 40g carbs.
