The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

that is so true. What sparked my obsession with getting bigger was when my ex gf called it off. I used all that anger as a motivator at the gym and when im about to fail i push myself harder just by thinking of her lol. Now all of her friends are like you look so hot and love all the muscles. Life is a b**** hey but payback is great. Just make her burn and in the mean time your getting healthier. Now i get more looks than ever. Its a good feeling knowing that you can lift more than what most people weigh.

I have a friend who has it all wrong, he used to be skinny, and now he is a big guy, maybe 5'9''(he claims he is 5'11''...not true) about 200lbs, he has been weighlifting for a while, but it seems like he has it all wrong, he thinks he has to be bully now! He says ''when I was small, I used to put up with people's crap, now that I'm big, I don't have to put up with nobody's crap'' and I think that's alright, but he takes it one step further, he screams and yells and tries to intimidate the smaller guys! He became a bully! What a moron! Not me, yes I was skinny, and I got bullied when I was very young, now I'm big and strong, and I became a tough guy, no one messes with me, but I'm not a bully, far from it, I'm the same nice, humble guy of always, the only difference is, I can make people respect me, and if they don't , I know how to scare the crap out of them, and if that doesn't work, I fight. But I don't start fights, and I NEVER pick on skinny, smaller guys, in fact I refuse to fight skinny guys for the most part, if I fight, my rule of thumb is, the guy has to be taller than me, look strong and heavier than me...Otherwise I feel like it's unfair, I feel like like I would hurt him badly, but I guess my friend sees it differently, he wants to be the bully now....He won't fight me though, I've tried, but he chickened out...lol

Your friend will be taught a valuable lesson in life, and that would be that no matter how big or strong or tough you think you are there will always be someone out there bigger, stronger and tougher then you. You go looking for trouble and you'll find more then you can handle.

I avoid fighting at all costs, and in 20 years have never been involved in a real swing for swing fight. I will defend myself, but I have nothing to prove to anyone. Skinny people who "get big" usually end up on the ass end of an ass kicking.

I'm bigger than the average guy at my school. I use what size I have to intimidate guys who bully other people.

IRL, you've got the right idea. I've never been in a fight, and I don't plan to. There's no real point in fighting unless it's self-defense.
SAM and FRODO tie up GOLLUM.
GOLLUM: No! Smeagol not into ropes, nassty kinky hobbitses.
FRODO: We just want you to take us to Mordor, you sicko.
GOLLUM: Mordor? Hobbitses having little Goth phase, maybe? Very angsssty, wanting to go to Mordor, yes yes. Can Smeagol offer black eyeliner to angsssty hobbitses?
SAM: You stop talking to Mr.--hmm. (to FRODO) You know, you wouldn't look half bad in eyeliner.

<<<So true, and I don't even use my size to intimidate..I'm really modest about myself MOST of the time, haha. Only way fighting get's brought up is when people start talking about my body or past fights i've been in because if I get hit I don't fool around :/ I take it very seriously if someone thinks they can endanger my personal health.

I'm so easy going though I hardly ever have to talk about any of it, I usually just shrug it off and go with it.

You don't look that bit, that's why you can be modest. Somehow, though, you're very strong for your size.

True, I don't consider myself big..but I am definately above average. I get told I'm big a lot too, my arms are approaching the 18" mark, and I'm 6'5". I always will be modest, though..it looks terrible when people walk around saying how much they can bench press, haha! I just grin and say wow you're a beast.

I told him that, he doesn't want to hear it. He is 35, almost 36...He was always the weak guy, he got his ass kicked in the past, he was never tough...I guess he wants to be tough now, who knows...It usually happens when he drinks, he really wants to be a bully when he drinks! I don't get it, I'm totally the opposite, when I drink, I could never fight, I become romantic and sentimental...But I'm tough and agressive when sober...He is usually weak and not so tough when sober...It's weird......You know what they say, people show their true colors when drunk...

I was always a stick skinny kid. I got picked on, choked, beat up, jumped, I got it all. I didn't even defend myself in grade school because there is not much you can do as an 80 pounder getting thrown around by 3 150lb guys.

I got angry by the beginning of puberty and had my fair share of scuffles, but still I can honestly say I've never been in a real fight. I don't want to. I've always been a more mellow, friendly person.

Lucky for me, I don't really need to fight. I don't surround myself with immature idiots that think fighting makes you cool or solves anything, and no one has tried to fight me since I woke up 6' 5, even though I'm not a big guy. Height plays a bigger role than bulk in the intimidation factor I think.

Back to the original topic, when I first started putting meat on my bones and discovered I could wear tank tops and not feel self conscious, I noticed the lookers of all ages and thought it was the change in appearance that girls/women were noticing. Now I firmly believe as was stated, that it was not how I looked in the tank, but how I felt about myself that makes me more attractive now than when I was a self-hating skeleton. As far as men are concerned, as has been said, they seem to think size holds more weight than women do. I get hit on a lot by closet homosexuals now though. Maybe I need to stop being so nice.

I was always a big kid. Hit puberty early, and still hit 6'3'', with a big frame. I haven't been in a street fight since I was in 8th grade, I think it comes with the confidence of knowing I can handle 99% of the guys who try to get physical with me. It shows in my demeanor, and idiots back off.

I gotta say size does mean a lot, as well as attitude considering 90% of people will NOT fight unless forced into it. Still might chicken out.

However, in actual fight, size is not so important, nor is attitude. I used to wrestle around with a guy 50lbs over me and I had his ass on the ground every time, no matter how angry and frustrated he became, hehe.

I'll give ya credit though, majority of kids who don't know how to fight size usually is the determining factor sorry I just went on a rant sort of.

I agree. I'm 6' 225ish and I have 18" arms and I don't lift nearly as much as him in any category. Plus I'm pretty sure I am larger than him all around.

Ya you can call me a liar if ya want, but you're missin' my point man the point was that I'm told I'm big. But anywho, it's whatev.

Last I measured my arms were a lil over 17" with a tape measure, and that was some odd months ago.

I'm a big phony though I like to lie over the internet so people will think I'm great, you know.(sarcasm) Of course 225 you'll look larger, I lift bigger than 250lb guys at my gym. Difference is I've been that weight and I've cut the fat and it took a long time for me.

    K, I'm done

Just keep in mind this thread isn't for calling people liars, grow up please. It was me making a point that I am modest about my strength. That's all. Get over yourselves.

Something I just thought of...if you feel you deserve more respect b/c you are "big" then you have a lot of learning to do

I've found that if you want respect, you should probably learn to respect yourself first. If you can't then you need to do something about it.

wasn't questioning your lifts, they seem pretty average for someone your size with some experience. but 6'5" at 200lbs, you definitely don't have 18" arms. so chill out, and don't post b.s. measurements. normally i wouldn't have said anything, but that one was just too outrageous for me to not comment.

Don't worry I'm not angry, or excited. I just don't want so much drama over nothing important. Just making my point, that's all because I'm being misinterpreted.

I said I was "approaching," I didn't say I have them yet. I haven't measured in a while, but it's not all that far away. Like I said I was just over 17" some months ago.

Oh well. Think what you want to because I won't argue anymore, and I won't post b.s. stats and I never have.

weight lifting improved my confidence hands down.

People noticed me transform from 130-195lbs in under 2years. Alot of those people shut the hell up too. All of them.

    Best thing i ever did.
