    Squats in sets of 20 is humbling

    I can barely squeeze out 20 reps with 135, whew

    I started trying this out after I read an article by Keith Wassung.. well written and solid advice. I suppose the lighter weight will be a tad better for me while I'm recovering from tendonitis anyway.

    Yeah, I've been doing 20-rep Breathing Squats for a few weeks. I love them.

    i've tried in once but nowhere near to the weight i usually squat!

    after 6 sets of squating, i attempted 20 reps squat with 135 last night. when i got to 15 i just reracked the bar and laughed. my thought at that moment "this shiet just kicked my ass".

    If you want to work on your mental discipline 20 rep squats or 20 rep deadlifts really help put things into perspective.

    would a single set of 20 rep squats at a constant weight be better than pyramiding up? i do 5 sets now for a grand total of 51 reps with 30 seconds - 1 minute break between sets. 51 sounds like a lot but the first 2 sets of 15 and 12 aren't nearly as rough as the last 3, but that's pyramiding for ya...

    i prefer to pyramid rather than stretch for warmup because i practice yoga far more than i lift, so any further stretching just seems superfluous

    20 rep squats are hard as hell. Also, watch out on ATF squats,. not everyone knee can handle that amount of stress. My left knee is still healiiung from heay atf

    Sorry this is slightly off topic, on ATF squats regarding form would you guys say your knees point out, in, or straight when you are at the bottom of the squat?

    20 reppers are great. I don't normally go ATF, bugs the hell out of my knees. I normally go a few inches deeper than parallel.

    Hm...my knees are always naturally just pointing out a bit because of my stance (toes pointing out a bit), so I would say yeah my knees point out a bit but they stay like that the whole time. In other words, my knees keep steady throughout the movement but they are naturally pointing out a bit so yeah.

    20 rep squat are the shiet...i have been doing them for about a month...once a week on my max effort day...it has been going great....i just love the feeling of racking a weight u previously thought u could never get 20 reps out of...i've already put 15lbs on to my best pin press(lockout) in three weeks....

    i do them ATF...only way to go IMHO....thats how you get that butt that girls wanna grab

    I do them every other week. First I have to psych myself up for about five minutes, then really concentrate not to lose form after about 15. I'm not strong enough to squat with a lot of weight, but I'm surprised at how small the difference is between the amount I can squat 8 times and the amount I can use for 20 reps (only about 35 pounds).

    I might be wrong, but about your knees, I think the most stable would be when you knees are straight forward, your feet position would depend on your biomechanics. For example, pigeon-towed people have their knees straight when their feet are pointed in and vice versa for people whose feet are always facing out. I think most people in general have their feet slightly pointed out when knees are straight. Like I said, I might be wrong but I'd think a straight knee would be the safest.

    That's probably what I was trying to say. I don't really know what my knees are doing when I'm squatting. I just guessed.

    Well I guess what I meant to say is that my kneecaps are on the outer part of my leg when I'm squatted down, but I guess that's just my bone structure?
