yeh, you probably weight about twice what he does too man.

id need to know your weight to know if your starting off any good, but it doesnt matter anyway, we all start somewhere and the only people who start out with good lifts are people who are used to doing alot of manual labor. (them and people with the genetics of the hulk)

I think you are doing good considering you just started and are so young.

    I am 5 feet 8 inches, 175lbs.
1.5 years ago my max squat was 200lbs X 1.
I just started squatting again and my max squat is probably 160lbs.

My squat has always sucked, I don't know why. I used to be able to bench 240lbs X 1 but only squat 200lbs X 1. I don't get it. It's crazy when you see people squatting 300lbs and more, that is just so much weight.

Most I ever squatted was 365 ATF for 3 reps... it was tough!

Oh and I was around 200 pounds at the time.

Ill assume that ATF means ass to floor... in which case I would be doing the bar because I cant get down that far... now paralle is a different story.

i cant get down to ATF either

when i go down all the weight as far as i can go, my butt is about 3 inches away from the ground ... however, i usually squat just below parallel and can only manage 205 for 6 reps

I go for parallel, its all I think you need. I do box squats also, in time if I gain flexiblity after I shed some excess poundage then I may try ATF but for now parallel is all I can do.

    @ Patriot

Ive noticed quite a few of these "how much can you do" threads of yours, and just want to offer some advice. Dont worry about what other people can do, or feel the need to be stronger then everyone you know. Compete aginst yourself and youll be much better off because your always striving to get better and your goals are much reachable because instead of chasing that 500lb monster bench you will be aiming for 5-10lbs higher then what you currently do. Guageing your strenght aginst others is a very hard thing to do acurately, some people on concentrait on some of the lifts and moreover some people are very naturally strong in some areas. The freak 500lb bencher in the corner might only be able to squat half that at best. Progress is progress and knowing where you are now and where you came from is the only true way to measure success.

I ATF/ATC or what ever the hell you want to call it 187x17. Just experimenting with higher rep ranges for a while. I don't know what my max is.

ATF just means going as low as you can. Few people actually touch the floor with their arse.

Yes. Your spinal erectors are heavily involved in squatting.
