    my gym

    the gym i joined dosn't have much for free weights. does it make that big a diffrence if i use more pin weights in my routine than free weights.

    if your gym has a power rack and a bar with enough plates you can do a whole routine in there pretty much. Add some DB's and you are set.

    machines are safer and easier to perform, that's why there are more people using them. If you are limited to what you can use, then use what you have.

    Free weights force you to develop good stabalizer muscles, they also make it much easier to spot horrible form.

    Free weights grant a greater degree of freedom (both motion and resistance). With cables, the resistance and range of motion are pretty much limited to the direction of the cable.

    If machines are all you have then so be it. Do you have any gym alternatives? Can you move to a new gym now, or are you locked into a contract. Are there any other gyms you could go to even?

    Are there at least dumbells?
