    deadlift people

Do you guys also do shrugs on a seperate day? I noticed with I started to use my weight my traps started to get hit alot more.
I was considering just not doing shrugs on shoulder day.

I rarely do shrugs anymore but I occaisionaly will add them on DL days for fun. If your traps are lagging, get some straps and do BB shrugs as heavy as you can as your last exercise on DL days.

I just started doing a seperate day of dumbell shrugs since my traps were lagging from only getting work from DL's. I do a push/pull split working each body part twice a week. I just added a 5th day that I only do calfs, abs, and traps.

There is no way I'm even able to hold onto an acceptable ammount of weight after doing deadlifts. Because of this, I do shrugs on my chest day.

Shrugs are a good assistance exercise for DLs. Use straps for the heavy sets.

They aren't the be-all of assistance work, but a solid to move in.

Lagging is only size and strength. DOMS have nothing to do with anything.

As long as you don't do them more than once every 3-4 days, you won't overwork them.

I do shrugs after deads assistance work. Usually only two sets since they already get hit pretty hard.

I do BB Shrugs the same day as Deads, but not one after the other. Deads are usually the first exercise that I do, and Shrugs are one of the last exercises for that day.
Best way to cheat on deadlifts...

Stand there for a few minutes, then pace back and forth a lot, huff and puff, wait until everybody's looking. Approach the bar. Back off. Approach it again. Back off. Get some water. Chalk up. Approach the bar again. Then spray some more chalk around. Wait until people start losing interest. When nobody's looking, pick it a little off the floor, and slam it down. Jump up and yell "LIGHT WEIGHT BABY". Then give high fives all around. - Belial

Yeah, BB shrugs work nice. Really started to notice an increase. I did an oopsie though. I was using straps one day about 3 weeks ago and must have gripped the bar wrong. The strap pulled on my right wrist kinda wierd but i didn't really notice it until after I was done. I went heavy (for me). My wrist is still hurting today and I'll be on my way to the doctors early next week. Be careful when using those straps, it suxors.

You might wanna try this out... What I do is I do a deadlift with a shrug when im at the top of my lift. I notice a great benefit from this cuz it saves time and your killin two birds with one stone. Just try it out. Some people do it but others just want to train them seperatly.

Is the deadlift squeeze motion at the end enough for traps to grow like moutian peeks? I remember reading somewhere that you can build like the lower or back part of the trap by doing wide grips cable rows and bringin the bar to ur chest. But Im pretty sure they said to get mountain traps you need to shrug....:whoknows:

Would it be best then for me to throw in like 3sets of shrugs after DLs?
