The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

"I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!"

Your born with limits. YOu may just not have the ability to have big calves. I don't even work mine directly and they are huge. It's just how it is.

6'5"..sheesh. It's will take a good amount of weight gain to see good calf results IMO. I think most tall people have problems with growing calves. It's that tall man's curse.

Calves are IMO and other ppl I know's opinions the hardest muscle group to get to grow on your body. What I would do is run up steep hills...in excess.

Depends on the person. I look at my calves and they grow. That's just my genetics though. I am short (5'5") and have naturally large calves. I've completely stopped doing direct calf work as I feel I don't need it anymore.

Yeah, I forgot to mention it's almost 100% genetics, that's what I meant by the "they're very hard to train". Damn, sometimes I suck at getting my point across. What I meant was if they're going to grow, they would have and it's a bitch to make'em to otherwise. Good point Max-Mex.

Exactly. Look at the douchebag's doing 7 plates on seated calves, there calves are so disgustingly small because they are bouncing the weight. Very slow eccentric, pause, concentric, it's a lot harder and hurts much worse.

my calves have been naturally big my entire life, and i attribute this to soccer. if you decide to do running, try it on your toes, as we do a lot of that quick toe movement in soccer. not to mention jumprope

Smack your mom in the face. Find your dad, and repeat. Your calves won't be any bigger, but you might feel better.

Calf raises on leg press and seated calf raises. Do 2 or 3 exercises for your calves with heavy weight. Problem is most people only do one calf exercise with their leg workouts since it's usually an afterthought. You need to focus on them as much as you would any other muscle you really want to grow.

I've always had naturally huge calves. I rarely work them because they are almost freakishly large.

    Yeah for genetics.

Mine refuse to grow any significant amount... I'm one of the tall lean ones (6'3), I usually do two 8 sets of calves per workout, I lift heavy, and they are still insignificant. Yay for genetitcs.

If you haven't done hills before, after you do them, you'll see why most avoid them lol.
