The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Malto is just two dextrose molecules weakly joined. It's got a slightly different osmolality than dex, but no real difference in terms of effect. I mix 'em half and half because pure dex is so sweet it makes my teeth shiver.

    User either one, or both.

As you may already know, these sugars are better than regular sugar for training because regular sugar is basically a fructose molecule bonded to a dextrose molecule. Dextrose is preferentially taken up by muscle glycogen. Fructose is preferentially taken up by liver glycogen.

so is the ultra fuel just as good even though it only has 29 sugars out of 100 in a serving.

Ultra fuel has fructose in it, and I'm more than sure it's overpriced crap. I'd just get dextrose and maltodextrin.

I think he meant "how should I take it, a 50/50 mix?"...just worded poorly. And yes, that would be good.

If the two are the same thing essentially, why not just take all malto?

I believe they digest at different rates, dextrose being quicker.

They have slightly different osmolalities, that of dextrose being higher. Dextrose alone can lead to bloating because of its slower rate of gastric emptying. Mixing the two seems to work well.

Places that sell beer and winemaking supplies sell malto and dex.
Malto is sold as a beer conditioner called "brew body" in Canada.
