I don't think it matters much if you aren't training your legs.

Not a good excuse. I doubt you have bad knees. Probably weak knees because YOU DON'T WORK YOUR LEGS

If you learn to squat, your knees will get better, your legs will get stronger, your body will get stronger.

Unless you've had knee replacement surgery or a doctor has specifically told you not to train your legs with weights, then you don't have bad knees. You have weak knees.

I'm not trying to be a prick here, but you will not get serious responses here (or at any legitimate lifting/bodybuilding forum) until you understand that your legs are vital to any lifting routine and you MUST incorporate leg workouts (Squats, lunges, etc) into your routine.

And I DO know. I was 16 once, I was a runner once. My mile was better than yours once (A LOOOONG time ago). I thought I had "bad knees" once. My knees were weak once, now I can squat 425 (once).

    Not Anthony Elis, sorry.

What's wrong with your knees? As in, the actually scientific term/condition? If you can sit on a toilet, you can probably squat. At the very least you could do leg presses.

hell, funny story about misspellings here: in 7th grade when we learned human anatomy at the end of the year the form had a typo on it, the misspelled word--deltRoid. so for years i called it that, and i got annoyed as hell when people called it a deltoid here. a few years back i corrected a friend on the name of the muscle. long story short i checked exrx net once to find that i had been mislead.

get your knee checked, if you can run a mile on it, you should certainly be able to squat on it.

I think we can can clearly see why you messed up your knees. Probably a result of poorform? But anyway, if can run a mile in 5:14, then i bet you can workout your leg. WHen you run each step has about 1.5 to 2 time the pressure of your body weight (I think). May be you just need to do light weight to get the joint greased up yah know?
