    how would one?

    howdy there

just wondering, how does one go about achieving this kind of abdominal look

    http://www.wannabebigforums.com/atta...chmentid=17430

those muscles to the side of his abs, i first think obliques, but then they seem to join with his lats :S

is this determined by genetics, or is it achievable with a low enough bf% or whatnot..?

I'll give you my 2 cents, although not backed up by experience or education. I have however read enough about it.

With enough work and dedication, anyone can get abs like that. For some people it is a little easier due to genetic makeup/metabolism. You'd certainly want a low bf%, since any excess fat seems to hover around the stomach first.

To get abs like that I would do this:
    1) Focus on your diet, eat lots of protein
    2) Get plenty of sleep (not just for muscle rebuilding time, but it's hard to stay motivated when you're sleepy!)
    3) Work your abs like you would any other muscles group. 1-2 times a week is good, with at least 1 rest day in between. Stay away from doing millions of crunches; do weighted exercises and lower reps.

I'm sure there's a lot more to it, but that's a good start I'd say. Good Luck!

First you'd have to be that dude, but with low enough bf you'll see yours.

Be careful of your goals. Wanting to look like that guy can be extremely discouraging if you don't have intense motivation. Maybe you should get a picture of someone whose body you can achieve in about 6 months. Then another goal after that, and so on.

All that was mentioned before with the addition of doing 2-3 sets @ 8-12 reps in upper, oblique, lower order. This has worked for me currently.

Read everything here. Then you will know how. Whether you will have the fortitude to actually do any of the right things to accomplish it is entirely in your hands.
