    2005 Tour de France

So...do you think Lance will win a seventh?

He placed second in yesterday's stage 1 time trial.

I'd like to see him win if for no other reason that to see a new record established.

The only thing I don't like about Lance being in the Tour de France is the fact that due to the inevitable Armstrong media saturation, there will be two or three guys who will think that it's okay to wear biker shorts and shirts while lifting weights.

    It's not.

Lance already has a 1 minute lead over his rivals and he crushed his biggest rival early in the race (Ullrich). The TDF is over. The Discovery Team is too strong and will protect Lance from here on out.

Look for the lead to be extended after the team time trials (TTT) on Tuesday. He's likely to be up almost 90-120 seconds before they even get to the mountains.

Barring crash, injury, or the French gov't, Lance Armstrong will win his 7th TDF.
A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.

He already has the record, though it will technically be a new record.

Lance is amazing, but there's still a lot that can go wrong between now and the end of the tour. I hope to God he wins it; he's an inspiring sonofagun and his book (that is, his story) fundamentally changed the way I approach life.

I just pulled a crapload of posts out of what should be a quality, and entertaining thread. Lance Armstrong's religious beliefs, or lack thereof, have no place in this discussion.

On with the tour! Viva Le France!

    Go Lance!
I think he'll get #7. His goal was to lead the entire tour.
He's an incredibly driven competitor,I hope he runs away with it.

There arent to many recovery stories out there like his. For a person who has has stuggled all my life with weight and then to even hear a clip of his story makes me feel like a puke that should just die from my lazy efforts till now! when i see something about him , it really makes me think that anything, ANYTHING, can be accomplished! but may the best man win. surprized the french just dont run away........................................

I'm sure he'll win No doubt. He's changed the way a lot of people think about life and how they can do anything by pushing themselves.

Lance is the sh*t. He will win as long as he is himself in the mountain stages and as long as he doesn't crash (knock on wood). There are a few climbing specialists out there who will challenge him (Ivan Basso), but he seems to be better than ever. Nobody is better all-around. No one will ever beat his record of 7 in a row if he wins it. Viva, Lance!

The problem this time around is that there are two sets of mountain stages (the Alps and the Pyrenees).

You almost wonder if the organizers of the Tour want Lance to lose.

I don't get it, Lance is a monster climber, wouldn't that help him?

The Tour always goes through the Alps and the Pyrenees. Besides, that would play to his advantage since he's almost unbeatable in the mountains.
