    Hard pecs

    You know how some guys have hard pecs without even flexing them? I walked into a guy in my office who has been lifting for awhile and he was like a rock. My pecs get hard when i flex them, but they are relatively soft when I'm not flexed. How do some guys have hard pecs all the time?

    I'm 5'11 170lbs, my max bench is about 240. I have been lifting hard for the last 2-3 months or so after taking about a year and a half off.

    Any thoughts?

    Size? 5'11 170lbs like i mentioned above. I don't know my bodyfat but i'm relatively thin. I've always had big pecs for my frame though.

    I meant the guy you're talking about is big in size and has low bodyfat thast why he looks that way.

    you guys have some serious issues, puting me in these homo-erotic sexual scenarios with the guy i "bumped" into in my office... rub one out and then help me with my question!

    The guy in question is pretty stacked, he probably has very very low bodyfat. I've never seen him in anything but a button-down shirt but maybe 3% or lower.

    I maybe have 5-8%...will my pecs be hard when not flexed if I have been lifting hard for a longer period of time? Or will they still soften when not flexed. A trainer at my gym said it was genetics but i'm not sure i buy that.

    I suspect that you have a very poor ability to gauge bodyfat percentage accurately, and should probably do some more research to get a better idea of what single-digit bodyfat looks like.

    I'd guess it's just a factor of muscle mass + low bodyfat- and who knows, he may have been flexing a little bit, too.

    unless you're in competition 3% is unhealthy.. and it takes a respectable amount of dedication to get to 3%
