The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

SLDLs are easier than regular DLs...am I weird?

A little while ago I DLed 190 x 6 reps and it was pretty hard, although this was my third set so I probably could've gotten a bit more. But then I did SLDLs last night and did 2 sets of 10 reps of 190. And I felt like I could've done 200 lbs. And keep in mind I haven't done SLDLs in a long time. My first time back in maybe like 4 months. Aren't you supposed to pull more with reg. deads? lol.

Some people deadlift with what is basically a SLDL form. It is what it is...

Maybe you just don't deadlift as much as you THINK you do, or maybe your back has more stamina for the reps than your legs?

Wouldn't you mean my legs have more stamina for reps than my back?

But anyway, if I DLed with basically SLDL form, and I was able to put up more weight that way, should I do that?

It sounds like you have weak hamstrings and hips. Work your hamstrings harder and get to squatting wider. If your SLDL is easier, it means you're using all back in your regular DL, which will ultimately limit how much weight you can pull. Get stronger!

OR his back might be very weak, thus resulting in his hamstrings and glutes doing all the work on both lifts.

My lower back is still sore from doing deadlifts on monday.(first time) Yesterday it felt like it was flexed the whole day. My lower back muscles must be weak as hell.
Debating whether I should do legs today or rest.

I wouldn't do squats and DLs one day after the other. DO something else or rest for a day or 2.

Well i did back on monday and was only able to get 1 1/2 sets of deads cause I did them last and i felt like crap.

    Tuesday (yesterday) i did chest.

Today (Wed) i want to do legs, but if you think its a bad idea, i dunno what to do. Shoulders and tris are the only things left, but i just did chest yesterday.
Guess i could just go work my bi's since i didn't get to on Monday with back cause i felt dizzy and my arms went numb.

I generally do lower body on Mondays and then again on Thursday or Friday.

You should do your DLs or squats first, not last.

yea, i do squats first in the leg routine, but all the bars were being used when i was going to do DLs for the first time, so i just pushed them to last not knowing how tireing they are. Big mistake.

It sounds like you have more strength and/or endurance in your hams and gluts than in your lower back. Maybe on your back day sometimes instead of DL do some good mornings, or on leg day every once in a while lean forward more in your squat, kind of like a good morning squat. A couple little switches might develop some more erector strength. I wouldn't substitute either of those exercises with the other, as they both have their place, but complement your routine to strengthen your "weaknesses."
