The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    What's wrong with me?

Alright is this abnormal or is it common with people who lift? Alright i had detassled for 2 weeks (riding machine thru cornfields, no leg work and no arm work pretty much.) Alright I maxed at the end of detassling (this was 2 weeks ago) and i hadnt lifted for all 2 weeks exept about 4-5 days before. I maxed, and i got 225 paralell, 185 bench, and 160 powerclean. I was at 245 squat, 205 bench, and 145 paralell at may. I dont know why this happened. I was lifting normally about 3-5 times a week (on the 4-5 day weeks, not all days were hardcore.) I think the squatting problem is that in the place i maxed just 2 weeks ago had mirrors in front of the squat rack wich severely throws me off even though i dont look at the mirrors, i can still see my reflection. When i maxed in May, there was no mirrors and just a solid blue wall. I dont know about the bench, but i know that my pecs and triceps have grown... please tell me what i should do, i am re-maxing sometime this week after i have been lifting for a few days and got un-rusted. I am re-maxing in the solid-blue weightroom by the way. I'll re-max when i feel better again in the mirror-room and have one of the coaches spot me. We have one coach that spots us (he cheats alot so that might give me an idea of how i am compared to other in my grade, i know schmitty199 is uber-strong at squatting he got 295 by the way, great job vern! BTW i think vern can really get 295, the coach just made him stop, laff!)

Re-maxing wont always result in how much strength you have at that point in time. Nutrition, sleep, mood, and other distractions can screw up your max so you wont be able to 100% expend your strength in max lifts. BTW I hear you on the field/orchard/farm/etc work, Im a city boy but parents own a peaches/walnuts and almond ranch 100 miles up north and around this time of year thats where I am. Too much work not enough time = bad nutrition and no training for 3-4 weeks.

for football. We get weight sheets that tell us what we should be doing for 12 weeks and its based on our maxes and getting a good max is important or I wont get any stronger. I dont max out all the time, this is just a one time thing because I was in a weird sitchuation.
