I watched many clips on youtube of westside squatting. how come their torsos are so upright? when I am on the box if I sit back enough my torso has a pretty good forward lean. how to improve it?

Thats a huge battle many of us fight when learning to squat correctly.
If you sit back and arch properly, you should be able to stay upright.
Bar placement can have quite an effect on being upright/forward lean as well.
If you get video, there are quite a few people here who will help you with your form

The wide stance helps you stay upright as well. If you have a wide stance and really push your knees out you will stay relatively upright since your hips won't end up as far behind the bar.
Individual proprotions (relative leg and torso lengths) will also dictate how much forward lean you have.

Ultra wide stance makes a big difference
briefs and sometimes briefs/suit with straps down
higher bar placement
and, sorry, slightly higher than parallel box
put them all together allows sitting back without having to stick
the butt out so much which makes you fold
