The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    Nice work on the deads, but make sure that you're not rounding your back. From the looks of it, you seem to keep your back rounded until you lock out. Then you roll your shoulders and get a right posture. Just try to keep a straighter back when you're doing your positives.

    Ok now I understand . Do you know how to do burnouts in the game? Is it possible?

    It's impressive to me as well .

    Thanks. I tried 285 again, to no avail. Then 275, to no avail. I really blew myself out, and I'm feeling to today (in a good way)!

    :: Curran ::
    Thanks!

    :: Z ::
    Yeah, I noticed myself rounding on the failed 6th rep @ 275. That is why I dropped it immediately, even though you guys said "YOU GOT IT PAST THE HARD PART!!!1". From what Josh told me, the only time my back was in a dangerous position was at that failed rep and at 285. Correct me if I'm wrong however.

    :: Upperbody Day 1 ::

    WEIGHT: 170.5 lbs

    Workout:
    :: Pullups ::
    10xBW
    8xBW+10 (+2R)
    6xBW+10
    7xBW+10 (+1R)

    Very good!

    :: Seated Cable Row ::
    7x150
    7x150

    A match of PR, with greater ROM however.

    :: Flat DB Press ::
    10x60s
    5x70s (+10Ws)
    3x70s (+10Ws)

    10x60s

    . Previous PR was 10x60s. They felt light, and since 65s are being "repaired" figured I'd try 70s. Surprised myself, truly did. The "initial throw up" on the 2nd set of 70s was about 10 seconds long, and I almost fell of the bench lol. Was also surprised I matched my previous PR on my last set.

    :: Tricep Dips ::
    10xBW
    6xBW+10 (+1R)

    Tri's were still a bit sore from Friday's session. Not sure how deep I am going here; need someone to critique my form.

    :: BB Curl ::
    7x70 (+2R)
    7x70 (+2R)
    6x70 (+1R)

    I've done more before, but this is my strongest since the injury and strongest in this journal.

    Activities/Other:
    Nada.

    Tuesday March 2, 2005
    :: Lowerbody Day 1 ::

    Workout:
    :: ATF Squats ::
    10x135
    10x135
    10x135
    10x135
    10x135

    Lower back and hammies are still teh hurtz after the deadlift session (which was delayed by 2 days; gotta stick with the routine!). Didn't want to go nuts because of that, and wanted to try this anyways. Lightweight, will probably incorporate this because I love em.

    :: Leg Press ::
    10x4pps
    10x5pps
    10x5pps

    Took rookie's advice on getting as deep as possible. This was MUCH deeper; and obviously much harder and much better. 5pps was a struggle, but I would still work with 5pps + 25s or something.

    :: Leg Xtentions ::
    10x210
    10x225

    Wanted to burn teh quads.

    :: Standing Calf Raises ::
    12x300
    12x300
    12x300

    Done lightly; still feeling a bit a sore from sunday's workout.

    Activities/Other:
    1 hour 20 minutes watching other people workout.

    Comments:
    Very light session due to lowerbody 2 being done on Sunday. Probably could have worked heavier since I was feeling more refreshed after a good ol' 3 hour sleep after school, however I had already decided to work light and wasn't about to change it. Next week is hardcore squatting!!!
