The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Which ab/core exercise is like the squats for your legs?

What I mean is, what is the best exercise for your abs/core in the same way that squats are the best exercise for your legs? I think I may have already made a thread like this once (asking for good ab exercises), but I want more input.

You stand up, feet shoulder width apart with a slight bend in your knees. Hold a light set of dumbells in both hands then put your arms up straight out and bend to one side slowly then the other.

Ya know the whole abs being worked while doing squats is something I may never understand. I always feel like my lower back (rector spinae) is the only real torso muscle being worked, usually helping me keep my back straight or a little arched.

Of course just because I don't feel my abs doing work doesn't mean that they aren't being worked...

I really feel my abs being worked when I'm doing chins

But I'd say weighted decline situps/crunches are the best, and probably the only ab exercise you need

Alright thanks guys. So squats are actually really good for your abs? I never knew they worked the abs that much.

Your core is actually a pivotal part of doing squats. They'll get worked when you're pushing the weight up and you should keep them tight on the downward motion.
