A muscle whose name and function I don't know.

This might be the wrong place for this question, so if it is, I apologize in advance.

There's this muscle, I think, that everyone has (other than a brain) located kinda between the hip bone and the edge of the oblique (or ab... I don't know). It's the one that can lead you to have something of a V-shaped upper body since it's the bottom part of the "V". Does anyone know the name of this muscle and or how to train it? Am I making sense?

Lats give you a "V" shaped upper body. Chin-ups will develop this. Go here and identify the muscle you are talking about: http://www.exrx.net/Lists/Directory.html

The brain is not a muscle. And I disagree that everyone has one.

Just do some heavy deadlifts and squats and rows. That'll make it grow.

On the picture of the obliques, you can see how they extend downward toward the middle of the pelvis. Abdominal shot provided also for reference.
