The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

How much time is your workout?

Hi. How long do you work out? I usually go 75-90 mins.
Because otherwise I wont have enough time to finish my routine. Can I work out for longer periods of time?

i think 90 minutes should be the absolute maximum..

I prefer to not go over 60, and my current days are finished often in 30 mins...

For a start anything over 60 and my concentration goes off and i am also getting tired by that point.

I usually go about 20 minutes but then I'm only doing about 5 sets or so.

I usually take about an hour, +/- about 10 min. That's just about right for my energy/motivation/attention span/time in the a.m. before work.

But thanks to my workout habit and sports, I can get ready for work/going out/whatever---including shower, clothes, hair, and makeup---in any locker room in no more than 15-20 minutes

45 minutes max. Rumor has it your body produces more cortisol after about an hour, which is not supposed to be conducive to gaining muscle mass.

Well now I only lift about 40 minutes, 5 days a week. That's only because thats the longest time possible i have each day. (PE in school )

But back during the summer, & at the start of school - I lifted 3 days a week w/ 90-105 minutes (1&1/2 - 1&3/4 hours). Honeslty, I cant tell much of, if any, of a difference in strength gains w/ the change of workout times. But of course, I am lifting 5 days now instead of 3, so .....

    Shoulders/deadlifts is about 35-40
    Chest/triceps is ~50
    Legs is 55-60.
