The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    mentally challenged (painting)

i've been contemplainting about a painting of a mentally challenged person having sex with a avarage person, but the challenged person would be extremly attractive and wearing a football helmet or a hockey helmet. The painting itself will be close to 5 feet by 3, the figures would be painted somewhat realisticly and would not be painted like a porno, more of a sensual thing, but with lust. I'm not sure what position i will put them in yet. But what do you guys think of the issue? This wasn't ment to be negetive in any way, i must admit i thought it was a pretty interesting adn humorous way to look at sex for the avarage and disabled people. They do have feelings like us, but is it ethical for us to expolore those feelings? Is the man using the woman? etc. You guys are smart, well some of you... I'm sure you guys could give me some great points or ideas or tell me that this is a stupid idea and will offend every normal person but will not offend the mentally challenged. Discuss.

I feel mentally challenged just reading this post.

I am not really in to that kind of art but I would prolly look at it and think ok, that person has way too much time on their hands.

I couldn't look at it like art, but I'd damn sure laugh.

I would imagine that pursuing sexual relations with someone with a reduced mental capacity could and probably should be viewed as the same as having sex with a minor. Obviously, disability comes in all severities, but chances are if a helmet is involved, you've got a 6ft tall 3 year old on your hands.

    Not exactly prime boinking material.

    Hm.

Maybe a still-funny but less controversial painting, still involving a helmet could be a pasty, skinny little dude with a helmet in the arms of a female BB?

The expression on the dude's face should be a mix of excitement and fear, and that should sell the painting.

I dont do controversial paintings, i dont see a point in making art just for contriversy. I enjoy making ironic or funny paintings with the style of realism and surreal feel.

edit: Man reason i ask, is the fact that this painting will be for class, and i'm sure the school had some crazy are, but in history they have not delt witih it all that well. So i didnt want to push the subject matter too far, i'm not passionate about this issue so i dont mind dumbng it down. Like making the second character (mentally challenged) less noticable and would not know if she was MC unless you ask the artist or figure it out by the look in her eye or the fact that she has a hockey helmet on!

edit: last year i did a peace based on a crucifixion of jesus, the image of that of jesus descent from the cross, but instead od people he was helped by strage cartoon characters, a bunny with giant ears adn one eye, and a robot with a fat stomach, and no feet. That went over pretty well with my teacher,

I have a pretty sick sense of humor (racism, dead baby jokes, etc.) and even your description of that painting is a little much for me.

Gotta have the helmet for the "Special Ed" factor. "I'm going to Hawaii! Yaayyyyyy!"

Honestly though, I think most "average" people will find it disturbing or offensive.

    I don't get it.
Best way to cheat on deadlifts...

Stand there for a few minutes, then pace back and forth a lot, huff and puff, wait until everybody's looking. Approach the bar. Back off. Approach it again. Back off. Get some water. Chalk up. Approach the bar again. Then spray some more chalk around. Wait until people start losing interest. When nobody's looking, pick it a little off the floor, and slam it down. Jump up and yell "LIGHT WEIGHT BABY". Then give high fives all around. - Belial

Sounds interesting. Or perhaps an amputee. A healthy man with a woman who has had her legs amputated at the knees or something. Or an adult siamese twin having sex with a non-siamese twin.

    WOW..
    I've infected you people.

How about a painting of a clown firing a tennis ball machine loaded with greased gerbils at group of school children tied to a merry go round?
Out of the night that covers me,Black as the Pit from pole to pole,I thank whatever gods may be for my unconquerable soul. In The fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance my head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears looms but the horror of the shade And yet the menace of the years finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate how charged with punishments the scroll,I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.

If you find the fact that a "mentally challenged" person has sexual urges funny, I feel sorry for you. It's not ironic or funny or surreal (like the clown/gerbil/kid thing). And how do you portray a mentally challenged person in a painting without succumbing to the stereotypical Downs Syndrome look? And if you did that, how could that person be made to look "attractive"?

Once again, it's not funny or ironic (or ironical--what is exactly the difference between those two words?) or surreal. It is just abjectly SICK.

you are twisting my words maing! I never said the act of a slow person havng sexual erges if funny. Afcourse the painting will seem funny to some people while it might make other people "SICK"

"And how do you portray a mentally challenged person in a painting without succumbing to the stereotypical Downs Syndrome look?" I cant, thats why the person will not have the look of a stereotypical down styndrom look, that will help people distance themselves from the peace within a safe distance.

"And if you did that, how could that person be made to look "attractive"?" Since i'm not dong that, it could be done pretty easily. "helmet" would be one major give away, lthough you'd probably would not be able to see the eyes (whichare a give away)

I doubt that the avarage folk that go to a gallery would even think about the peace, they rarly do. They go into the gallery to be educated or enlightented. I rarely meet people at public galleries who actually think about a particular peace, they go through the show filled with 50 paintings within 2 hours, just not enough time. They should spend atleast half an hour per painting.

you should chec out Andres Serrano and his work, on majore peace you probably know "Piss Christ" here is a little something http://home.vicnet.net.au/~twt/serrano.html

Its artistic expression man. Like a crucifix in a jar of pee. Dont worry, when the Dems get back in power paintings of mentally challanged people in head gear riding the balony poney will be on every street corner.

Feminist,Germaine Greer (Herald Sun,14-10-97) labelled the National Gallery as "pathetic"
That quote is from the article linked in above post. Now I bet that if a show had feces as a medium with a beloved feminist leader as its subject, Germaine Greer would be fine with it being censored.
