    Rear delts with shoulders or with back

    I sort of feel like rear delts are both part of the back and part of the shoulder group of muscles.

    If I train rear delts with shoulders on say a Monday, then do a back routine on
    Tuesday, I feel that I am doubling up on training this.

    With what group of muscles should I train them?

    personal preference really.

    i used to do them with chest, but decided that after pressing my tris were too fried for a good delt session.

    i moved them to back workouts but i felt as though my tris were being overtrained by hitting them twice a week with pressing.


    now i do both: one week i'll do them with back, then, 5 days after i'll do them with chest. then 10 days later i'll do them with back again and the cycle repeats.

    with this my progression only really comes every second week, but my delts have shown some pretty decent results thus far.

    Or you could throw them in with your chest workout. (Not doing any rear delt exercises)

    Than on back day, just do some sort of rear delt exercise.

    The deltoid *is* the shoulder.

    I do rear delts on back day, front and middle go with shoulder/triceps day.

    i always thought delts were your shoulders. I train my delts with chest. And my back has a day of its own. Mine goes legs, chest/delts, off, back, arms, off, off.

    oops sorry - i f*cked up - meant 'rear' delts only not the entire shoulder
    must have been having a slow day huh
    i will go back and fix that, ... what do you rekon, does that make more sense ?

    A lot more sense.

    I always do rear delts with back, since they're pulling muscles. I don't do any specific exercises for them, however.

    That's what I've been thinking about lately too...
    however I have been used to associating rear delts with the training for the rest of the shoulder.
