For health purpose and fitness yes go for it i imagine it will be more fun than the treadmill itself. I used to play badminton and enjoyed it much more than the treadmill nikes ect. If its for weight loss then diet is key

anything that gets you up and moving, heart rate going, for 30+ mins should suffice. so aerobic sports like raquet ball, tennis, martial arts, basketball...good stuff. football and baseball are too short a burst of energy to really be considered 'cardio'.

Actually if you take a DB position or that of a reciever in a pickup football game you would get some great cardio, it would be like a session of HIT. Now I know, I played football in college, that a true game of tackle football is not that much cardio, and not that hard. However a pickup game can be a great source of HIT cardio.

I like weights. You know where you stand with them. Well, sometimes you're lying under them, trying not to let them crush you, but you see, you KNOW they'd crush you if they could. There's honesty.

What effect would that be? Racquet ball involves a lot of running around, so it basically is a form of cardio.

Squat until you puke... that's the best cardio
Try regular Squats with just the bar - around 100 of them
    Then do 100 Sumo Squats
Then do a 100 sissy squats w/o the bar
Take a rest - and do it again..

Or if you really crazy... try a couple hundred Hindu Squats

    But racquetball is great too..
The competitive Racquetball Metabolic number (MET) is 10.0 - about the same as running at 6.0 MPH...
