So I'm trying to limit my simple sugar intake in my diet and I was always under the impression that sweet potatoes were a better choice than regular potatoes due to having a lower GI.

So I started looking up nutrition info on sweet potatoes and I got two (seemingly) conflicting results:

(1) http://nutritiondata.com/facts-A00001-01c00h1.html

and,

(2) http://www.nutritiondata.com/facts-A00001-01c00h6.html

I notice the sweet potato in (1) has no sugars, but the one in (2) does. Yet they look almost identical?

Can someone set me straight on the sugar content of sweet potatoes? I was planning on buying enough to last me for a week, but now I'm not too sure

Thanks a bunch,

-Eps
