Burn it good until all the sugar has burned away.

    Deserts are so unhardcore.

You do it atop the heat. There is no need to remove it from the stove. Just ignite the alcohol. It will continue to burn only as long as the ethanol is present. This should preserve the flavor, but remove the alcohol. Should burn for 30 seconds tops in my experience.

    not at all.

setting food aflame (flambe) is fairly commonplace in the culinary world.

Ever had Bananas Foster? Try it sometime. (I don't recommend having it while on a cut though. )

Most recipes like this one call for at least half a stick of unsalted butter.

What ever you do, don't use a lot of booze. Very little in fact or you will have too much flame. Have a lid and baking soda handy lol.

i'm sorry but this is dangerous. remove the pan, then pour the booze, and then move back over the flame. you don't wnat the bottle you're pouring from to ignite.

We're gonna be watching about you on Dateline.

You will single-handedly be responsible for the banning of stovetops in the U.S.

Gotta protect us from the heat, ye know.

Hahaha. If that were the case, then for once reading the news in the morning really would start my day off right.

I've put out my inadvertant flambe recipes with a handy, dandy lid.
