The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    CKD And Bacon?

I vaguely remember Wizard mentioning what type of bacon to stay away from. Can anyone explain what ingredients I should look at staying away from when I shop for bacon and why.
    Thanks.

    Maki Riddington-
Bacon is fine on a ketogenic type diet. I have done both a CKD and a TKD and ate bacon on both and it worked fine. 2 fried strips of bacon is something like 60 calories, 6g of fat, and 4g of protein. And thats just normal bacon. Not going to do much damage with a nutritional profile like that.

nitrites maki. the preservatives suck. If you can find nitrite free bacon, it's all good. umm..there's a label down here called Sunday's Best that's pretty good. their bacon is nitrite free.

maybe streaky bacon. as its about 50% fat. So will start to be very high in saturated fat including the palmetic fat or stearic fat.
if wizard is on about sweetcure there is not much sugar in their to worry about so you will stay in a keto state.

The only negative element is that the majority of bacons, are "equiped" with additives and preservatives to make them last for longer. What Tryska said

I bought some bacon style turkey.

    Per 3 slices:
    117 cals
    7.6g of protein
    9.2g of fat
    1.1g of carbs

Here's the breakdown per 100 grams as well since they are huge slices.

    217 cals
    14g protein
    17g of fat
    2g of carbs

Haven't tried them yet but I'm sure it'll taste good. When has Butterball let me down.

The turkey bacon is pretty good...gets nice and crispy and not too much grease.

I mainly use it in recipes that call for a few pieces of bacon for flavoring, but I have eaten it for breakfast on occasion. It's lower fat than regular bacon but still rather processed and high in sodium.

If you have access to a local butcher or a wholesaler/farmer, you may be able to get fresh bacon (i.e., right off the pig). It tastes a LOT different than the packaged bacon though without all that junk...

    bump!

i found an excellent nitrite/nitrate free bacon. I t was a bit more expensive than oscar meyer but it was excellent!@

I love bacon ! it is really tastey and a little can go a long way in adding flavour. Hate nitrites though. I find it hard to believe, if you were to look at all the warnings on a bottle of sodium nitrite i would never believe they would let you add it to food...lol
