The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Itís no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

Which routine would I most benefit from during cut/bulk

Hey everyone, starting next week, I will be doing a serious cut to get down to 215 by march 19th and will continue the cut until end of march( I am at 234 right now and I am getting to 215 because I really want to, and I have got a bet going with my gf). After that period I am going to start a clean bulk, so I am undecided which routine I would most benefit from during each period.I am choosing between the two routines below and would love some opinions on which one you guys feel would better fit my gols for each period. Thanks for all your help and comments!

    Routine 1

First one looks alright although I'd add some shoulder work.

Yep it looks like no direct shoulder work in the second one either. Whatever.

I personally would go with the latter.

Without even looking at the training routines niether will be good without a solid diet in a calorie surplus. You should already know ure maintanace cals as your cutting then add 500 cals and go from their making sure you get the right amounts of protein/fats and the rest carbs

Are you going to try to meet your goal strictly through weight training and diet? Any cardio?

I'm in a similar situation, trying to get down to around 210 from 223 but I don't want to lose any muscle mass.

Right now doing about 2 20 min sessions a week (swim or stationary bike).

    (numbers are mine)

    1. Fairly sure that military press is a direct shoulder exercise

    2. I'd go with the second one also.

LOL my bad they both have shoulder work. Standing Arnold Presses in the first one and military press in the second one.

Don't quite know how I missed those.

Thanks for the responses guys. In both periods I will have my diet in check. I am already using fit-day to track, and I pretty much eat the same thing every day except for at dinner, so I have a great handle on that. During the cut I'll have calories at 500 under and then during the bulk I will be at 500 over. But, given all that, any other opinions on those routines, specifically as to which routine would be good for the cut, which would be good for the bulk, or if it wont matter. Thanks again

I liked my split for my last cut, and I'll do it again in the spring for my cut. It's in the link in my sig if you want to see it. Chris Russow and Utopianhopes are both using it right now.

    It doesn't really matter.

I am currently on week2 of FI's routine and I am bulking. I plan on using his routine through the end of my bulk and probably during my cut unless start losing strength and then switch to a 4x6 and lower.

    He's trying to LOSE bro.
    It's all diet related.
I'd increase your reps to the 8-15 range but keep doing whatever you are doing exercise wise.

Why so high, Hatred? I use LOW reps for cutting.

I agree with Built. I'm going to use westside for cutting too. I figure it like this:

I'm going to be putting my body in a position that's hard to build strength, and not as east to maintain it. Seeing as how strength is my main goal, I will do what will keep my strength the most intact. Westside.

EDIT: This is all when I cut in a couple weeks.
