The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

It’s no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

I mean really WHAT IS THE INTERNET? like, where does it start/end. Who controls it? Why does it cost money to get a web site?

LOL I don't think it really 'starts' or 'ends' anywhere. Hosting things, such as a website, costs money because MOST OF THE TIME your website is loaded onto a server somewhere (where it takes up space) that is pretty much always on (as opposed to our PCs). The website also uses up some of the bandwidth so whoever is hosting the website (and thus owns/runs the server) asks those who created the website for money. That way they make a profit.

No-one controls it and no-one should,.

Yes there's dodgy stuff out there but you have to have some sort of personal responsibility. It pisses me off so much when I see websites being censored, especially in other countries.

the internet started with the USA military. they military used the internet as a way to comunicate to differnt bases, the idea was if one bases was taken out there would be almost endless routes to send messages, as opposed to telephone lines or radio. i think it was in the 50's or 60's when it first was used

I can tell you the government is putting their nose in my business on the Internet. The FCC is constatnly dictating what can and can not be said about the supplements we sell. They are slowly sinking their claws into this wild, wild west.

Internet was developed as a way to safeguard communications in case of nuclear attacks/other military situations. The internet started between a set of colleges, though, not the military.

True, but my comment was to refute those who claim the Internet or actually control over the Internet is held by no one. ICANN has control of many of the tasks such as assigning domain names. Kenneth Neil Cukier has an excellent article on this.

The US was the origin of the backbone and still has some of the largest domain name servers but the internet has since evolved beyond it's borders. If you nuked America back back to the stone ages tomorrow you'd be able to read about it on www.bbc.co.uk

That's why so many oppose the idea of the US government claiming any rights to the internet any longer, despite its origin as a defense project, and want to see it moved to be governed by an international assembly. I think that's a great idea, personally, because it would allow for action to be taken against the sick **** pedophiles who get away with putting their **** up by using a host from Zimbabwe, Nigeria, and a dozen other countries.

That said, we all know THIS is what the internet was started for.

(It's safe but I wouldn't play it without sound or at work)
