    Tholian is one strong beotch!

    Meet Results from today:

    Deadlift

1st Attempt: 117.5 kg (259 lbs) British record for this weight class
2nd Attempt: 125 kg (276 lbs) British record for this weight class
3rd Attempt: 135 kg (298 lbs) PR and British record for this weight class!

She didn't even know she was making a record attempt until she went up to do her first deadlift and they ANNOUNCED it!

Kinda cool that her training weight over the last few months was actually a British record...

<blush> OMG, Built put up a thread about this!

I'm a fat little thing, 82.5 kgs and believe me I had to fight to make that weight.

Being over 40 sure doesn't hurt in terms of the record books. Makes that a LOT easier, lol.

    Great job!!
    Squats work better than supplements.
"You know, if I thought like that, I'd never put more than one plate on the bar for anything, I'd never use bands or chains, I'd never squat to parallel or below, and I'd never let out the slightest grunt when I lift. "It is often said, mainly by the "no-contests", that although there is no positive evidence for the existence of God, nor is there evidence against his existence. So it is best to keep an open mind and be agnostic. At first sight that seems an unassailable position, at least in the weak sense of Pascal's wager. But on second thought it seems a cop-out, because the same could be said of Father Christmas and tooth fairies. There may be fairies at the bottom of the garden. There is no evidence for it, but you can't prove that there aren't any, so shouldn't we be agnostic with respect to fairies?"

"Out of all of the sects in the world, we notice an uncanny coincidence: the overwhelming majority just happen to choose the one that their parents belong to. Not the sect that has the best evidence in its favour, the best miracles, the best moral code, the best cathedral, the best stained glass, the best music: when it comes to choosing from the smorgasbord of available religions, their potential virtues seem to count for nothing, compared to the matter of heredity. This is an unmistakable fact; nobody could seriously deny it. Yet people with full knowledge of the arbitrary nature of this heredity, somehow manage to go on believing in their religion, often with such fanaticism that they are prepared to murder people who follow a different one."

    Great Job!

I'm wondering if your federation is run like the IPF. You are permitted I believe to make a 4th attempt if it's a record attempt. I'm not sure if you can keep going on continuously if you are constantly breaking a record or not. It has to be I think a minimum of 5lbs over though, or something like that.

You also get up to 5 minutes rest for the next attempt.

Just asking since, if you had more in you, you may have been able to further push the record up.

    Congrats either way! Great work!

Yes, they let Tholian make a 4th attempt, and I bet you she could have done it if she hadn't suddenly remembered that it was freaking HEAVY!

True. I failed 140 kg (308 lbs) because I wasn't prepared for how heavy it would feel coming off the floor, and as soon as I had The Forbidden Thought ("Jesus, this is HEAVY!"), that was the death knell for the lift. My technique went to hell, I got out of position and then there was no way that bar was coming up. I got it about halfway.

I'm a little late to the punch here, but great job on the record tholian8.
Best way to cheat on deadlifts...

Stand there for a few minutes, then pace back and forth a lot, huff and puff, wait until everybody's looking. Approach the bar. Back off. Approach it again. Back off. Get some water. Chalk up. Approach the bar again. Then spray some more chalk around. Wait until people start losing interest. When nobody's looking, pick it a little off the floor, and slam it down. Jump up and yell "LIGHT WEIGHT BABY". Then give high fives all around. - Belial
