Best way to beef up chicken legs?

hahaha, get the lame play on words? Anyways, I have some pretty serious chicken legs, and I would like to know what I can do to rid of them besides eating 4,000 calories a day. Ive just been doing 5x5 leg press machine to complete failure. Is this enough? Should I add some real squats, deadlifts, etc... Thanks.

Switch from leg press to squats. Don't always go to complete failure. And yes you should add other exercises, some possibilities are:

    Squats (as said earlier)
    Deadlifts
    Straight Leg Deadlifts
    Leg Extension
    Leg Curl
    Calf Raises

    Just to name a few.

I'd stick to basic and functional lifts.

    Squats, lunges, and SLDL.

I wouldn't consider any machines, or other apparatus at this time. Keep it simple and functional.

You need to train your legs and gain weight. You gain weight by eating food.

    Good luck.

    Agreed.

Use you legs to progressively lift heavier weights while eating more food than your burn.

I might as well use this thread to ask about SLDL.

I just feel these in my back and nothing in my legs at all.

    Is that normal?

Also I'm not very flexible and struggle to touch my toes. Does that have anything to do with it? I feel a stretch when bending over to pick the weight up but I dont feel any effort in my hamstrings as I bring it up.

Lighten the weight and work on perfecting form until you feel it in your hams. People often get overzelous with the weights used in a SLDL and end up rounding the back too much.

Maybe he ran out to put all this good advice to use
Best way to cheat on deadlifts...

Stand there for a few minutes, then pace back and forth a lot, huff and puff, wait until everybody's looking. Approach the bar. Back off. Approach it again. Back off. Get some water. Chalk up. Approach the bar again. Then spray some more chalk around. Wait until people start losing interest. When nobody's looking, pick it a little off the floor, and slam it down. Jump up and yell "LIGHT WEIGHT BABY". Then give high fives all around. - Belial

lol, didnt scare me away. Thanks for the imput though. Ill definetly start doin the squats more, and eating more. Im 5"11, 140, so I do need to gain, however... everyone in my family has a big upper body and small legs. So im afraid that when i put on fat when bulking, it will all be upper body. I dunno if that is a stupid thing to fear or not.... let me kno. THx
