The Five Biggest Contradictions in Fitness

Its no secret that when people contradict themselves, it has the effect of making the flaws in their actions or statements seem glaringly obvious. But what about when WE ourselves get caught contradicting ourselves by someone else?

    New year, New Car

Got stuck out in New Mexico when the old car decided it liked to burn almost as much oil as gas. So decided to pick up a new ride. After waiting for it to arrive, it finally got here so I could get back to town and hit the gym.

"It is often said, mainly by the "no-contests", that although there is no positive evidence for the existence of God, nor is there evidence against his existence. So it is best to keep an open mind and be agnostic. At first sight that seems an unassailable position, at least in the weak sense of Pascal's wager. But on second thought it seems a cop-out, because the same could be said of Father Christmas and tooth fairies. There may be fairies at the bottom of the garden. There is no evidence for it, but you can't prove that there aren't any, so shouldn't we be agnostic with respect to fairies?"

    Richard Dawkins

"Out of all of the sects in the world, we notice an uncanny coincidence: the overwhelming majority just happen to choose the one that their parents belong to. Not the sect that has the best evidence in its favour, the best miracles, the best moral code, the best cathedral, the best stained glass, the best music: when it comes to choosing from the smorgasbord of available religions, their potential virtues seem to count for nothing, compared to the matter of heredity. This is an unmistakable fact; nobody could seriously deny it. Yet people with full knowledge of the arbitrary nature of this heredity, somehow manage to go on believing in their religion, often with such fanaticism that they are prepared to murder people who follow a different one."

Kick ass car man! My mitsu has treated me very well over the last year and a half. Its a 2000 Galant ES. Nothin special, but its never quit/broken down/burned oil, or anything. Just routine maintance. New brakes, and a new battery.

Good luck with the car...looks sweet!

Yes, the first modification he should make is to enroll in high performance driving school. $1000 spent there will improve performance more than any other mod.

Why the heck should he mod an ultra-high performance out of the box sports car?

The absolutely last thing I would touch on an Evo is the suspension.

    Suspension is awesome.

Plans are full exhaust, bigger fmic, intake, hardpipes, tune. Just drive it like that. Should make 330-340awhp like that.

I've done more then my fair share of track days in my old eclipse AWD and my Integra Type R which I still have.

The STi is terribly ugly. I'm not much of an import guy, but the Evo IX is really nice. The Evo and STi are so close in performance, I don't know how Subaru gets off making the STi so much uglier

I think the STi is better looking, but both are pretty, well, ugly. It's their inner beauty that is so cool. Much like a Delta Integrale or Cosworth Escort.

Bloodninja, me and Martin (the owner) had a drink out at the DSM shootout in Ohio last year. A good guy. He is one of our dealers.

STI didn't even cross my mind. I can't stand subarus since fixing my friends WRX up back in the day. My other choices were a c5 vette, or 03/04 cobra, but the practicallity, and turbo got me. Since I work for a turbo shop and its my only car, 4 doors is nice.

I'm thinking about buying a C5 Vette myself this summer. I just need to figure out if the insurance is going to kill me

It will definitely be bad. My brother is 24 with a 98 C5, full coverage for him is $2400 a year. I'm 23 with a 98 Trans Am and pay $1200 a year. Just something to think about, C5s, 98-02 camaros and v8 firebirds all share the same engine anyway.

$2400 a year is not bad in my opinion. I would be getting the bare minimum coverage anway, and raising the deductibles as high as possible to lower the price a bit

I know the 5.7L is in all those cars, but the Vette is in a different league altogether as far as handling, refinement, performance potential, etc. I love the Camaros and Trans Ams though, I really wanted a Z28 in high school but I got into an expensive private university and couldn't afford it

The dealer let me take one out to test drive a few months back without him. I guess because I had a tie on.

I hammered it and it was an amazing ride. The interior is way too uncomfortable for me as a commuter car, plus the price tag is a bit steep for the same reason. But, it would be fun!
