    Stretching......

While recovering, on my off days, I have been told that stretching will shorten recovery time. On the other hand, I know that you can hurt yourself stretching cold muscles, and it is not recommended.
    Now I am confused.
What IS the proper way to stretch during off days. Should I not stretch unless I warm up? Should I not stretch at all? What should I do when I wake up the morning after an intense leg day, for ex., and feel like my legs are going to fall off.....
    Help is appreciated. Thanks.

I stretch as my cool down after lifting. If I'm gonna strech on the off day, I usually do some quick jumping jacks or a few quick push ups. This way my heart rate is up and the blood is moving. Maybe a quick walk or do a couple flights of stairs (if possible). I will never strech cold never really feels right.

I enjoy getting up in the morning after a good work out, and haveing a cup of coffee and sitting on my floor and doing some nice slow stretchs of the muscles i worked out the day before.

for some reason it makes me happy
