    Muscle memory work after 5-6 months?

    Lifted all summer for football season, didn't touch a weight during the season, and when football season ended, i didnt start lifting until about a month later. That was 2 weeks ago, and I have been lifting again. I am back to where I was beginning of summer... will I be back to my end of summer self?

    P.S. This summer was my first time lifting so lots of beginner gains,
    bench went from 140 to 170
    squat from 200 to around 230 (estimate)
    deadlift 225 to about 250 (estimate)

    Will this lifting have any effect on where I am going to be in a couple of weeks?

    Also, for people who play football, is there a good way to stay strong during the season?

    You are young and those maxes are within 15-27%.. so you should be able to get that back pretty quickly.. probably a month or 2 if you Lift hard, Eat right and sleep enough..

    To keep your strength during the season.. it doesn't take much. Try lifting for about 30 minutes after practice on Monday (Upper Body) & Tuesday (Lower Body)... 1 hard session per body part per week will keep your strength... just make sure you eat enough on those days and get your protein..

    As bearwolfden said, for next season you should definitely consider doing at least short and light workouts to maintain your progress. It takes a lot less to maintain the gains you make than it will to increase the gains.
