    Bench Press Grip Width?

Ok I did a search but had trouble finding anything specific. I am tall, about 6'4", so what would be a respectable grip width for me. I tend to put my middle finger on the ring, which is very wide compared to some. Of course this has always worked for me in terms of mass and strength gains, but would it pass in a meet for example?

i dont think width matters in comp, but it targets muscles differently... ie. close grip is more tris and wider is more pecs. Do what works for you. I personally put my pinky on the ring, and im 5'8"

I'm almost 6'3 and I position my index finger outside the ring.

I am 5'11 and I put 3 fingers outside the ring! i used to put my pinky on the ring but only my tris were growing. My bench as increased 10 lbs in a month just from moving my fingers out wider. At first you do less sometimes but your chest gets used to it.

i like variation so my grip is all over the place.. but the most comfortable for me would be a little wider than shoulder width.
